Since KH 3 is coming out soon, does this mean we will finally get updates on FF 7 remake?

Its been roughly 3-4 years since Square Enix revealed the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and this is the last time we saw gameplay footage of it as far as I know:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3sBZ5Nr4hc

And I think the reason we have not gotten any more info since because Square was busy promoting and developing both Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 and now that those 2 games seems to at last be out of the way, we can finally see more info on Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Also Square said they were gonna make it an episodic game releasing the content in increments essentially, but I have a feeling they scrapped that idea because if they were gonna go the episodic rout we would have gotten Episode 1 years ago.

I think the FF7 Remake is the next logic big game coming out of Square once the KH3 hype is over.

But I'm not hopeful for it, Square announces shit way too early and with the Ps5 on the horizon i wouldn't be surprised to hear news in the next months that the FF7 remake has been postponed in order to push it onto the Ps5 instead.

Haha! You're hopeful, in an admirable sort of way. Squeenix are renowned for excitedly announcing their big projects far too early so fans are kept dangling for years and years. This is only what I've heard from people that do follow them anyhow. So it's a second-hand observation only.

Pretty sure FF7 and Half Life 3 are sitting in a green room, waiting for a call that its time to go onto the Johnny Carson show. In 2019

No. It just means KH3 is coming out soon. A studio can give updates on two or more games if they want to.

The difference between FF7 remake and Half Life 3 is that we SEE an FF 7 Remake. We SEE gameplay.

And speaking of Half-Life. The Xen Levels for the Black Mesa remake is finally coming out this year.

We saw Duke Nukem forever gameplay and pics for years. Didn't add up to much.

We're already getting updates to FF7 remake... they're just very shy, that's all.

I'm not holding my breath on FF7. While I'm interested to see what they've done with it, the fact(IIRC) it's supposed to be released episodically doesn't exactly give me cause to get excited, since that probably means we'll see like 1/3 or 1/4 of the game in like 2 years or so and then if we're really lucky, one episode every few months after that(or more likely, one episode every year or so).

I loved the idea of episodic gaming when it started a decade ago, but it's horribly prone to schedule slip and then possibility of just not seeing the end at all, which killed my enthusiasm for it pretty dead.

Pretty much.

Also helps that Kingdom Hearts 3 being finished actually frees up the hands of one of FF7RE's directors, as Square had the glorious idea of putting him on two major projects at the same time.
