As we all know, the NFL is a system designed to give the Giants (And to a much lesser extent the Jets) opponents to defeat in football.
Since the Giants were terrible this year, they will not be going to the Super Bowl, and since the Jets are the Mets of Football, there simply won't be a Super Bowl this year.

Since the Super Bowl is not happening, what will you be doing instead of watching it?

The same thing we do every night, Pinky.

In all seriousness, I'm not into sport, so this sports tournament never interested me anyway.

I will be going over to my parents house for the families annual Chili Cook-off. We shall be making Chili (in case that wasn't clear) and pitting them against one another to decide who has the greatest chili!!!

...I should probably go find me a recipe at some point rather than my usual "Let's throw whatever's in my kitchen at the crock pot and see what sticks" strategy.

Also, the not-Superbowl will be on as well. I am hoping to see either a gigantic cluster-fuck of a mess weather-wise (so I can smugly say "I told you so" to all the people who think weather makes a game fun) or if the weather is fine, for a great game between the Immovable Objects and the Unstoppable Force. My money is on the unstoppable force [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.840723-Poll-ok-time-to-predict-the-super-bowl#20666675].

What is this Super Bowl everyone talks about? Is it something in Superman's lunchbox? I don't get it.

It is the greatest thing every. You see, after the Super Bowl, American football is practically over for a few months. That means no more football hogging the channels over the weekends in place of more interesting sports! No more football posts flooding Facebook pages! No more of that for a few months! That is glorious news!

OT: I plan on going to a friend's house for a party, enjoying some chili, and maybe playing some board games with whoever isn't glued to the TV.

Probably going to a super bowl party (they will have one even if it did get hypothetically cancelled ;P) and will likely pay no attention to it while playing Magic with some friends.

Been tweaking a green devotion standard deck for awhile now (lol hydras + devotion mana ramp), so probably that. Maybe play some of my green/black Gorgon deck as well. Starting a standard red aggro deck soon, but it probs won't be ready by then. Kind of waiting to start it until after the pre-release this weekend.

Things I will probably be doing instead of watching The Super Bowl:

Applying for jobs in the town I am moving to.
Maybe watch that Documentary I spend $+10 on before the watch code expires.
Listen to the Electric Light Orchestra.
Play the Guitar.
Play more Katawa Shoujo.
Talking to my girlfriend.
Filling out Apartment paperwork.
Scouring Topics on Escapist to invade with things I feel are pertinent to the conversations.
Not much, just...hanging out.
Catching up on some movies on Netflix.

You know, the Usual.

I will be here in England enjoying the fact that my entire country does not grind to a halt because of a sports game.

Rather sinisterly, it's the time of year where sex trafficking reaches it's peak in the US, or so I am led to believe. Aircrews are taught to watch kids carefully for signs, though how effective this is I can't say.

Yoooou know that you lot would go a little bit mental over the FIFA world cup.

If you actually ever make it to a final again #cheekygrin.

I'm a New Zealander, what the fuck am I saying? We aren't even getting into the bloody tournament.

Yes it does. Just not for this one.

The second biggest power surge ever in this country was caused by our reaction to a sports game (the 1990 World Cup semi final).

There are always nasty, weird statistics surrounding sport. In this country, domestic violence rises whenever our rugby team loses a game.

Great.

Edit: Or even if we win, apparently. But less than if we lose. Fuck it:

I don't watch it anyway though! I hear a lot of hype about it, but I've never ever sat and watched it. Being from the UK, though, it's kind of understandable. So instead I shall be doing what I do anyway; play World of Warcraft!

Though I have done a lot of modding to Dragon Age Origins lately, so I'm probably going to sit addicted to that for a very very long time.

I shall be the dissenting voice! This year's Super Bowl will be a glorious battle between two very good and well rounded teams and will have implications on who is considered the best quarterback to ever play the game. I will be spending this beautiful exhibition of sport at a party dedicated to celebrating the grandest sport ever devised by human minds! (Full disclosure, my family has a strong history of college/NFL level play, so I may be biased.)

I'm going to try walking from one end of Skyrim to the other. In disguise, of course! I wonder what the body count will be this time...*sigh*...

If you live near a football stadium it does. I live near West Ham's Boleyn Ground and when it's match day, boy you will not be able to get the tube or bus or get in a car. Best chance you have it to walk. When it's a West Ham vs Millwall match, it's best to stay home or just be on the other side of London. FIFA World Cup or UEFA Euro? When England plays, the roads are silent and everyone is at home watching the game... actually that isn't too much of a bad thing. Then when they get knocked out, the next day everyone is upset and moods are low.
