Conservative MP Sir David Amess has died after being stabbed at his constituency surgery in Essex.
Police said a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the attack at a church in Leigh-on-Sea.
They said they recovered a knife and were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Sir David, who represented Southend West, was holding a constituency surgery - where voters can meet their MP and discuss concerns - at Belfairs Methodist Church in Eastwood Road North.
According to ITV national news (the live show) a tip off from a source to the news has said the suspect who was arrested is a foreign national and counter terrorism police are investigating more.

Discerning viewers may remember David Amess from his appearance on Brass Eye, explaining the dangers of cake.

It is a particularly great shame that Amess was murdered while he was engaged in a public surgery. Engaging with constituents is a very important part of an MP's job and acts like this do risk putting them off from face to face meetings.

Going off his wiki page he seems to be a normal conservative. He even has good positions like no war on Syria.

"He was one of the few Conservative MPs to support the campaign to impeach Tony Blair."

And into me dancing on your grave you go.
