This just came out. Not sure why nobody posted it yet, but take a look.

What do you think?
FUCKING HYPE

After the minor disappointment that was Dark Souls 2 this is looking pretty great so far. Atmosphere feels nice and dark, and seems to have that nice feeling that Demon's Souls had where the world is a living place and you're coming in a fucking things up and they're mad at you for it.

Plus, that weapon. That weapon! That awesome little mix of various ranges, power attacks and the general attack animations, plus sidestepping and guns that (so far) don't seem OP or out of place! Wonderful. Oh, and the blood splatter on the clothes is a touch I really like.

Also the health thing. Not sure how I feel about that but it does seem kind of neat. From what I gather, when you get hit there's a second or two where you can attack and restore some of (or all) of the lost health. Now this could work wonderfully or not work at all. Hopefully other healing techniques are nice and rare so it cements that style of play.

Going from what the video showed I'm not sure if the bosses are going to have a mix of unqiueness from Demon's Souls and challenge from Dark souls, but hey, so long as they're even slightly better than Dark Souls 2 bosses I'm well up for it!

So yeah, pretty big hype right now. I've been scarred before, and I won't be getting it right away due to not having a PS4, but I'm certainly hopeful.

This is so Demon's/Dark Souls it is unbelievable. Even the 'wood breaking' sound is the same.

Anyway, it looks really damn good. I'm glad Miyazaki didn't work on Dark Souls 2 so he could make this instead.

This is everything I want from a game. So, so excited. I can't remember ever being this excited for a game. But Miyazaki man, I never had any doubt. That guy is a genius.

looks like the main big upgrade from dark souls is the much needed addition of blood! (not being undead helps i guess)

whateves, i'm exited. although that thing at 2.52 looks exactly like the jailers from the bastille. i hope they step up their uniqueness factor.

It looks a lot better than Dark Souls. Looks to be a much more offensive game, it's looks like it'll be more skill-based difficulty vs be cautious and don't be an idiot difficulty of the Souls' games. The enemies seem to have actual AI of some kind this time. I still can't believe the dependency of a lock-on system that became archaic 2 generations ago. It looks like a re-skinned Dark Souls, plus you can only go so long using the same visual style over and over again. I can only see it reaching 7/10 good from what I was able to gather from the video.

The gun stopping the big dudes windup allowing a riposte attack was a nice touch. I've also noticed out of all the dodging their was a grand total of one roll (forward). I'm wondering if its all hops unless you dodge forward whereupon its a roll.

Looks as it should I'll be getting this day 1.

I'm willing to bet you'll hate it just as much when you actually play it.
I give any game a chance. At least there doesn't appear to be shields so the shield controls won't suck. There looks to be actual stealth, actual enemy AI. The lock-on systems are inherently limiting, I don't understand why From doesn't join the rest of us back when lock-on became archaic. There looks to be a possible juggling mechanic at play. The game seems a lot more fun and challenging than Dark Souls ever was.

Man, that sure is an impressive Dark Souls mod.

Almost looks like professional work.

Shame they couldn't mod out the clumsy lock-on system that buries the camera in the boss's armpit hair while you try to step on his toes.

Did anyone else get Manus vibes from the boss at the end? Anyways, this honestly looks amazing. The combat in Dark Souls 2 was a sluggish mess, but this looks much smoother and natural. I also like the quasi-horror feel of everything. I hope the story is good, too. The story in Dark Souls 2 was a mishmash of ideas thrown together whereas the one in the first was a bit cryptic but made sense ultimately.

It looks good, yes. But honestly the PS4 exclusive tag is a major turn off for me. I'm not going to fork out a bucket of cash on a next-gen platform for the same dark souls experience in a new skin.

Yes. It looks good, and probably will. But no, it isn't worth the price of a entire new console. In fact, I believe absolutely nothing that has been shown on any next-gen console is a reason to even consider getting one.

Most of us are getting Dragon Age Inquisition on our old platforms so our saves can carry over. Evolve is on PC, I see no reason why you'd even get it on a console. Shadow of Mordor is available on the last gen and PC. Assasin's creed Rogue coming out on last gen and PC. AC unity is on PC, so a new console just for that is pointless.

It's good. But not entire console good.

And even then, as mentioned elsewhere in the thread.

Its a dark souls reskin. There isn't much difference between Quake 4 and Doom 3's gameplay. Nor Bloodborne or Dark souls 2.

Looks really good. The combat looks fast, and fluid but still thoughtful like the the rest of the souls series. The animations look great and fall into just the right spot in the uncanny valley to really be creepy (just look at the werewolves). The new weapon mechanics look really interesting.

I'm not quite sure about the mechanic of regaining health back after you get hit if you counterattack fast enough, since it seems to completely negate the fear of an ambush, but the devs have said that there's more enemies this time around and that they're a lot more aggressive, so considering the lack of defensive options maybe a change like that was necessary (hopefully it doesn't make the game too easy)

Personally I'm really excited (though I'm still waiting for From Software to learn how to program their camera better).

There are now two dodging options, a dash and a roll. When you're locked on you dash and when you're not locked on you roll. In the demo the guy spent most of the time locked on which is why you didn't see much rolling.

Gotta love gamers: game I don't like gets a sequel "whhaaa no creativity greedy devs all games the same the industry is dying" game I do like gets reskin sequel "OMG MAH PENIS IS HARD".

OT: Well that looks like... um... Dark Souls. I like souls so I'm interested, but I can't get hyped for something so familiar. The lack of a shield is concerning, and that gun looks 100% fucking useless. Really the deciding factor for me will be whether its balanced around sane game design, or the community's masochistic obsession with meaningless difficulty("its not a good boss if it takes less than five deaths to beat it" is an actual opinion that I have seen, and that worries me).

I Love everything about what I just saw!

The gameplay looks like the natural next step for Dark Souls, I'm loving the extendo-blade nature of all the weapons, the mechanic with getting health back by landing successful hits seems like it would be the best way to compensate for the lack of a shield, the Shotguns look well implemented, the atmosphere and aestehtic design is fucking brilliant, and of course the visuals look fantastic (R U SEEIN DOZE COAT PHIZIX GAIZ!?/!1?).

This is currently the sole reason I feel completely confident that my PS4 was a sound investment, massively looking forward to playing it!

It's more Dark Souls then, hell if you told me this is a section from Dark Souls it would totally be believable.
And sure why not, they got a good thing going so this will still be doable for a while.

Yeah it looks really good.
I've always been a more agressive player in the Souls games so I'm kind of excited with the supposed direction of this game.
Loving the transforming weapons too, I've always been a sucker for that kind of stuff.

It's dark souls with a big graphics upgrade. Looks fun but doesn't look amazing. I am going to miss using a shield. It adds replay value when you want to switch things up.

I guess my question is, why didn't they just make Dark Souls 3 if they were going to make a game that literally plays identical to it? I mean, from the way the character climbs ladder to the way it picks up items... its all the same...
