Hey guys just wanted a bit of help and thought this was the best place for it. I've just brought a ps3+skyrim and was wondering where the best place to start would be ( like where's the best place to fo first or do first). I was also wondering if there were actually any bugs as I've seen peope say the have, and some people say the don't.

Sorry if the post appears weird and if there is mistakes i've done thus on my phone whixh seems to hate me, i'm also trying to improve my grammar as i fear i've been making mistakes for a while.

Once you escape from the keep at the very start, the rest of the game really is up to you. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to go about this game. If you wander into an area intended for higher level players, you'll know about it soon enough.

Also, altitude = danger. The higher up into the mountains you go, the more lurking nasties you are likely to find (ice wraiths, frost trolls, snow bears etc). That's not to say you won't find some really nasty things down in the lowlands either, but as a general rule they aren't as bad.

Seriously, just pick a direction and set off. There are quests to pick up literally everywhere. I was level 10 on my first character before I even properly started the main quest line, and only dipped in and out of it occasionally on the way to level 40 or so when I finally got stuck in and finished it. And I've still got a fuckton of stuff to see and do.

The beauty of Skyrim is that apart from the first 10 minutes, where you go and what you do is entirely up to you.

As for the PS3 bugs, they are starting to show on all platforms now according to the Bethesda forums. They just showed up quicker on the PS3 because of the way it uses its RAM. Basically, the bigger the save file, the more in-game lag you are likely to encounter. It's worse in some areas than others though, and was partly fixed in the second patch. A more complete fix for it is supposed to come with a patch sometime in January, although I personally haven't had the crippling issues some players have reported. Most of the other major bugs have, as far as I know, been fixed in the most recent patch.

I'd say going to Riverwood is a good idea. You can sell your stuff and have a place to sleep. Plus depending on who you escaped Helgen Keep with, you have made a friend or two!

Go to riverwood and see if you have the money to buy some food or cheap health potions (and magicka potions if your a mage) and maybe some armour and weapons and then pick a direction and go wandering

Okay. You see those big guys with the clubs, herding mammoths? They're part of a new fast-travel system that lets you reach parts of the map much more quickly than you would otherwise. Just walk up to them, wait a few seconds, and you'll be at the other side of the map faster than you can say "Oh God, the pain".

I played through the story up until I became the Thane of Whiterun. After that, I didn't touch the main story for hours, and I never really had trouble level-wise. So that's my suggestion: Play through the story to that point, then you can handle pretty much anything, because you'll be leveling up as you go.

As for bugs, the game is littered with them. I wasn't able to even start the Thieves Guild quest because it bugged on me. However, my friend was able to complete it no problem, and we both have the PS3 version. So yeah, there are certainly bugs. It just depends on whether you hit them or not. I suggest multiple save files.

My advice is to pretty much follow the Main Quest until you meet some beardy fellows, after that, Tamriel is your Oyster.

Quests are really easy to pick up just by talking to people, I don't think I've ever had less than 5 major and 10 Misc active at any one time since about level 5. I would reccomend saving up your gold and buying the house in Whiterun quite soon, so you have a place to store things. Another bit of advice would be to make sure you Smith, Enchant and make potions as much as possible, they're all a great way to earn money and get up the levels to aqquire those precious, precious perks.

I'd suggest picking up a Guild questline, they're pretty helpful. Oh, and if you have the money, always train a skill if you meet a trainer. Again, helps to level up and can keep those secondary skills useful if you ever decide to change class or something.

Close your eyes and spin around for a while then when you stop, start walking in that direction. Riverwood then Whiterun is the obvious choices but if you are going to play as a thief why not head over to Riften? A magi go to Winterhold. or just pick a city and make your way to it stopping at farms, mills, and villages along the way picking up a quest here and there or helping them out by cutting wood or picking food. Once you get to that city start working on being able to buy a house or atleast become thane in the ones that dont have a house to buy.

But you aould most likely want to go to Whiterun and get the main quest to start by killing your first dragon before moving off to something else.

I would do the main quest up until you fight the first dragon (it's not a spoiler...everyone knows it's going to happen), as you gain new powers from that. After that...do what you want.
If you want to be a mage then seek out the Mage's College. If you're character is a thief then head to Riften. If you're a warrior then speak to the Companions in Whiterun. Like it's been said before, there is loads to do wherever you decide to go!

Walk in any given direction until something interesting happens, like a cove or a monster or a temple or a town.

Make sure you have a save before and after each quest (probably another in between those two) just in case the quest bugs out on you.

oh and avoid the bard's college quest (you have to find some drum in a dungeon) because to my knowledge the drum still gets stuck in your inventory.

other than that go bananas.

Save incredibly often i cannot stress this enough, save after every battle and before you think there will be a battle and very often in between that.

You might want to save before using this "fast travel" :D

- Lightning damage is the least resisted type in the game. This is my recommended damage type for casters. Duel Casting and that dual-cast stun perk after it are crucial to late game damage spell success. It's expensive to cast though, so if you're playing a caster/x hybrid, fire is the better option.

- If you're an armor wearer, it is extremely important to focus on Smithing as a skill. The game will become very difficult if you neglect this skill entirely even if you take all armor perks.

- The PS3 version of the game is known to lag and chop up as you put more and more hours into it. Consider playing through the game with a focus in mind in case this experience ruins things for you. For example, dedicate a playthrough to the main quest and completion of one guild...rather than going for 100% completion.

there is a mine that is close to the exit from helgan. I recommend going there, whatever playstyle you chose youll probably level up in there. Plus it's got a forge and sharpener thingy, if your into smithing. I always go there when I create a new character. BTW if your a stealth character, join the DB or the TG as soon as possible you get some ass kicking armor and weapons from both factions. Just an FYI.

That post made my day.

OT: I think after Riverwood, Whiterun is a pretty good place to start. Although it's fun to just run around for a bit and see what you can discover. Don't forget to save!

Join the college set to your chosen class, if you want to be a thief join the thieves guild, mage the mages college and warrior companions. These will get you good starter items for your class, also everyone should join the dark brotherhood, especially a sneak person.

First thing you need to do is sell the PS3 copy and buy it for PC.

PS3 has a gamebreaking savebug that is not fixable as far as everyone knows right now.
