Okay so obviously news of Skyrim have been about for some time now, and as a big Elder Scrolls fan, I am clearly excited beyond all belief for it, and have been following all the new updates on it since I believe late January. I myself have personally clocked in probbably 200 hours of Oblivion at least, and played Morrowind religously when it came out. Hell, even today I still play Oblivion from time to time.

And, in similar fashion to my Oblivion question of character choice, my question is (to anyone and everyone out there who is a huge ES fan like me), what type of character (Race and Class) are you going to make for your very first play through of Skyrim?

Personally, I have always been a straight up Mage type character, with the more sneaky and assassin character as my second choice. For Skyrim, with the over-hauled combat system including the ability to duel wield any single handed weapon (spells included), I'm still definitively picking a Mage for my first play through. In some of the more recent gameplay, more spells have been shown off and theres been a HUGE amount of variety added to them, along with the new all-mighty Dragon Shouts, I have a very good feeling that I will be faaaaar away from doubtful for my new Mage.

As for what Race? Thats always been a hard one for me, my very first Oblivion charater was an Argonian, and I may follow suit, but the new over-hauled customization (and lets not forget about amazing face-paint and beards), will leave me to pick one of the human options, probbably Breton for the magika bonuses, but eh, whatever human race I feel like playing at the time.

Probably a Redguard, with the usual sword and shield setup. Unless they have polearms or a barehanded style that is actually effective and enjoyable.

I shall be Sir Tallybangle, a disgraced Imperial [or Dark elf] knight who must use cunning and wit to buy every available house and win the favour of all his friends.
I'll be a mix of all 3, focussing on stealth and magic mainly, probably why Sir Tallybangle wasn't a very good knight.

Seek out the nearest faction resembling "The Dark Brotherhood" it's a curse that they aren't returning especially with the new spin they could put on things. Not that excited for dragons since they are in abundance which was the problem of Oblivion with the gates.

Also steal things a lot.

Well they've announced The Mages Guild, The Companions (Warriors Guild), and the Thieves Guild 100% for sure, but I saw a video where one of the producers said "if you pay attention to our trailer, it hints at another faction" and right then it shows the clip where a guy is assassinating someone...soooo safe to say that the Dark Brotherhood should be returning, also since it was a big favorite among the community, and was featured in Morrowind from what I remember, I don't see why not.

As for the dragons, I see the abundance problem, but killing dragons earns you their souls which you can use to earn Dragon Shouts, which are extremely useful, so I could let them slip, plus well...its dragons.

I am going to play a straight up *****, regularly engaging in ***** manuevers such as stealth killing, running away, jumping onto rocks and shooting arrows at enemies that can't reach me, and letting guards kill dragons for me.

That's good, I couldn't get into most of the guilds and found the magic system underwhelming. They were a lovable bunch of Goths and the game needs poison apples.

I just pictured majestic caves filled with gold like in some drawings guarded by fearsome dragons that you could come across. They look like cliff racers in the fact your going to be wanting to avoid them regularly.

I tend to play a jack of all trades, because it allows me to experience the most playing styles. I like keeping my options open and being able to approach a situation in different ways. Having said that, I tend to gravitate towards a sword-wielding fighter with one or two destructive spells. I love fireballs.

As for race: it will probably be human or maybe elf. I think Imperials are a little boring, so I'm thinking it will either be Redguard or Breton (or maybe Nord). Probably Redguard.

I'm going to steal everything and kill all of the guards in every town, so just like oblivion.

Honestly, either a stealthy assassin character, or a Mage-Warrior hybrid 2-handed or shield. Straight warrior kind of lacks flavor, and straight mage is a little too squishy for my tastes.

I'll probebly end up making a female sneaky mage and after that either an orkish/nord brute or a rogue sorta character.

My secret hope for skyrim is that there will be a Shivering Ilse esque area or quest chain. Either in the main game or later in downloadable content.

Whatever I want. Ability wise, I'll probably mainline in big 2-handed swords with a little side helping of magic. Then I'll run around the wilds cutting down bandits and the local wildlife while foraging for alchemy ingredients. I can't wait!

Racewise, probably a Nord again, as I was in Oblivion, though I may be swayed depending on what benefits a particular race may offer.

Nord, I guess. I'm thinking just picking up what falls in my lap, probably either a sword or an axe and some spells here and there and then specialize more and more as I go along.

...anyway.

I'm playing the same Nord I played in Morrowind. Dual wields axes, enchants and hits ugly things with warhammers.

Awwwww yeah.
GREAT SCOTT! The other guy (Giraffe) beat you though :) I can't wait for that aspect. Most of Oblivion was spent in the mountains overlooking the beautiful city that was sadly plagued by dead eyed ugly people and only when I found the Dark Brotherhood did I learn that at least there was a way to thin them down effectively so I didn't spend all my time playing the game like "The Grinch"

I will be a Khajiit and he will be named Lion-O, and I'm determined to find a sword with an eye in the hilt.

But usually I'm a thief class, with emphasis on swords and bows. I might dable in the schools of Destruction and Restoration.

But it's usually a Khajiit or Argonian.
