Skyrim Game of the year?

I bought Skyrim when it first came out, on PS3. Afterwhile, I had no time, and ended up selling the game. Lately I've been thinking about rebuying the game, but I think that if there's going to be a GOTY edition I should just wait, and then get that on 360. Does anyone here know/think they know if a GOTY version will be released? Or should I just go ahead and rebuy it?

Sure there will. Not before the planned DLC's are all out, so there may well be a wait still... Get it on PC if you can, the mods for it are incredible! Nothing wrong with playing it on a console I guess ( I use an xBox controller for my PC while playing it), and of course not everyone has a PC good enough for the game... But the mods... Oh the mods!

With selling 3.5 million units in 48 hours it will have an GOTY edition.

Yeah a game of the year edition is just the same game with all the dlc, so you'll have to wait for all the dlc to come out first. So wait maybe 1-2 years?

Honestly, considering how quickly Hearthfire came out after Dawnguard i wouldn't expect it to be all that long of a wait. That said, a GOTY release might be delayed across the board if they are still hoping to get the DLC out on PS3 and want to give it some time to sell on it's own over PSN, assuming they ever release it.

There likely will be one, but when that will be is anyone's guess. There's certainly no information about such a thing as it stands right now. Mainly because it's still "current" and being actively supported with new content, bug fixes and expansions/DLC. Usually, one doesn't see a GOTY version until the last of any planned DLC has been released, so the OP will be waiting a very long time to get it, possibly as much as a year or two from now.

BTW, if the OP has a PC capable of playing it, he would be doing himself a disservice by (re)buying a console version. Not only in terms of better GFX and performance, but the number of mods available really sells it.

Methinks the thread title needs to be altered somewhat so more clearly reflect the subject.

Anyway, should Skyrim recieve more DLC then a GOTY bundle might be in order.

Well, they could just do what they did with New Vegas, and call it the 'Ultimate Edition' or something similar if no GOTY awards come its way. I'm sure it will come out eventually with all DLC included in the box.

It seems like a pretty safe bet that almost all Bethesda games will eventually get a GOTY edition, just because they put out a decent amount of DLC for their games. Though there has been a surprisingly shallow amount of DLC for skyrim. Dawnguard i've heard is just ok, and Hearthfire seems...eh. So i guess we'll wait and see.
