Hey guys,
I'm facing a choice between which version to get. I'm debating between the console version and the PC version, and although I really want the PC version for the modding community that I'm sure will pop up around this game, my rig doesn't meet recommended specs, meaning I'm worried about quality.

So my question is this: based on the specs below, will the game be tolerable (from a graphics/framerate point of view) to play, or should I just stick with the console version that I know will run smoothly?

I've marked the aspects that don't meet recommended

Specs:
*AMD Phenom II X2 N660 (dual core ~3 GHZ)
*AMD Radeon HD 6650M (not sure why this doesn't meet recommended, as Can You Run It detects 3 gb VRAM and Pixel/Vertex shader 5)
4 GB DDR3
Windows 7 64-bit

PS I can play Battlefield 3 on high settings, and it looks good (obviously not ultra, but still really good). Will I get comparable results from Skyrim?

THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

A question to add on to this, my computer isn't good enough, so I have to get it for console, should I get it for xbox or PS3, right now I'm leaning PS3 but I seem to remember the PS3 version for oblivion having problems

Yeah, your computer is fine. Get it for PC.
Thanks so much! I just had this horrible flashback to Morrowind, when the whole continent was overrun by cliffracers and the only way to avoid them was to install a mod :D

You really shouldn't have to ask. On PC, after a couple months we'll have dragon riding, shitloads of custom weapons and abilities, extra areas to explore and probably all of Cyrodiil before summer, and then fucking brilliant total conversions going into 2013.

Didn't they originally tout that "the console versions would be compatible with all mods" or am I thinking of the wrong game?

At any rate, I'm waiting on the PC version. Preferably when it appears on Steam for $7.50 for the GOTY Deluxe or whatever.

I have something to add for myself: my problem with gaming these days is usually my graphics card. It's not bad, but it's the one that comes with the laptop, so a lot of games don't recognize it for some reason.

It is a Intel HD Graphics Family Card with 1696 MB of memory. Will that work, you think?

I don't think this is that good of a video, but here's a comparison: http://attackofthefanboy.com/videos/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-ps3-vs-xbox-360-compared/

Evidently, there is a glitch right now with installing Skyrim to the Xbox's HDD that causes graphical pop in. The PS3 version looks slightly better, but I don't think it'd be noticeable enough while you're regularly playing.

I guess then my answer for you would be, would you like to be Microsoft or Sony-brand Dovahkiin?

They said they were looking into making it possible.

Thanks, PS3 it is, but mostly because of its massive hard drive compared to the 1 or so gigs I have left after the BF3 graphics download

'intel hd' graphics are almost never supported officially for a title like this, it may work but it's a shot in the dark.

You'll be fine. My laptop doesn't meet requirements for half the games I play at 60fps on high settings on it. Canyourunit is good for seeing how it may run, but you'll be fine.

You decide
You have your couch set up wrong =P
i agree on the incorrect couch calibration, perhaps you should play house inventory tetris and sort it out first!

I typically don't like playing games on PC, but if yours can handle it, then I say go for it.

Besides, if you were willing to dump some cash into the idea, then getting an upgrade for your computer so that you could run the game on ultra might be worth it.

If your rig can handle BF3 on high settings, then I'd imagine that Skyrim would look really good too. Certainly not any worse than the console versions (which I imagine look awesome anyways).

That's a good way to size up the situation.

Of course, if one is ever uncomfortable gaming on the PC, you could just figure some way to PC game on your couch.

Don't know how you'd manage it, but it can be done I'm sure.

You know what, forget it.

I'll just stick with consoles.

Hmm...well, I've been able to run Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas just fine on it. Think that means anything? I mean, I know it's a new engine and all, but surely that's a good sign?
