Ok, lets try this again

So I've been having some issues lately with the ZP video's along with other videos from different sites that's starting to trouble me a bit. You see I go to watch the video, I click play, and I get a black screen, the time is set at zero, and nothing gets started. When this doesn't happen, I still can't watch the video, as it starts to play, the time is set for the video's length, but I get a second in or so before the video stops and jumps back to the beginning.

I've tried switching to a different browser, from Safari to Firefox. Yes I'm on a mac, but being on a mac has never been an issue before, and this only started as recently as the Fable 2 ZP. So... Any insights? suggestions? I mean my drivers and what not are all up to date, so are the editions of each browser, I'm just curious as to what's up.

And not to make this an entirely pointless tech support thread, please, feel free to discuss other kinds of tech frustrations you're having currently or have had in the past. I'm interested in knowing your tech woes be it from Vista shitting the bed for the 8th time, or deal with a DRE on your PS2, or ROD on your XBox 360.

I hate bumping my own thread, and double posting, I'm committing too many forum fouls at once, but I'm just stating that I've fixed the OP... Sorry for the annoyance

I wish I could help, but I'm on a Windows XP with Internet Explorer and the videos work fine for me. So I leave this one to the tech-heads.

It's quite literally the last gen MacBook Pro, right before Leopard. If you follow Apple tech, there was a slight variation made to MacBooks when Leopard was released, to compensate for it's functions, so it's a generation and a half old, IE: Not super old.

I use a Mac, and never have trouble... well I did for about an hour once, on the whole site, but that was the actual site (I think) as other sites worked fine.

My vista laptop does something similar to that when hooked up to crappy internet. In other words, sorry, I have no idea what's wrong with your computer.

I didn't think it had much to do with the OS itself, but hey you never know.

Perhaps I could get some insight from an IT or Video guy from the Escapist? If you're not too busy, or care more than usual of course...

I find that that happens if I click the play button on the menu at the bottom, but if I wait for the screen to say 'Click to play' and click on that it works.

Tech frustrations, eh?
Anybody know where I can get a good free Tutorial on adding more than Trilinear Anisotropic filtering to 3DStudio Max 9 renders?

I used to have real damn problems with the escapist videos, but i don't know what happened they just work for me now. Frikkin' computers, 'twas a sad, sad period when i couldn't watch Yahtzee. I cried myself to sleep at night...

The only thing I can think of is checking your internet connection- that was happening yesterday while I was at my bf's apartment and it was because the school wireless has been wonky the last few days for some reason. I was connected to the internet, pages would load, but videos and songs would do exactly what you described. Once I was back to my dorm, everything was fine, so that may be your problem. As to a solution... I have no idea.

this occasionally happens to me. I think It's just a connection bug, nothing to do specifically with your computer. Refreshing the page a couple of times generally fixes it, if not, just wait a couple minutes and it should resolve itself. If it doesn't, I have no idea what's happening.

This happens to me - I've got a PC by the way - now and again. I find that refreshing the video in question a few times works fine...

Ugh, idiocy and narrow mindedness of that comment aside, I happen to have an Xbox 360...

Anyway, No amount of refreshing is working for me, nor do I have access to a different machine. I'll just chalk it up to the university's piss poor network.

I get it all the time, but mostly when my downloads are crawling.

Which they are now. I really want to see the submissions for the Escapist Film Festival, but alas, it is not to be.

You might get a better response if you change the title of the thread to something like: "Mac user needs tech(nical) help"
