Smart Phone

Okay, so I'm finally looking to take the plunge and get a smart phone. I've been looking at HTC but I thought I'd try and get some more opinions on the subject as I don't know everything. Android is preferable but not essential. Same with the price, I don't mind spending money but only if it makes sense. Am I wrong to think android is better? Please help.

If you want practicality, I can recommend the Nokia E70 for it's simplicity and the fact that it's got buttons.

And you can install some useful programs on it free of charge, like notepad software if you have to write notes and stuff.
