ok, seriously, i'm not sure aboutthis one. i mean they already showcased the thing for half an hour on E3, is it that much left to show that it require a special direct for smash bros ?

i dont think they could show anything that will sell more copy. pretty much everyone that is into smash have already decide if they want it or not. i dont think i need to know every bit of detail before the game release. get the game out, and let me discover a few things or two.

however, it's safe to say that they will probably also cover a few more games, and talk about the online service. anyone think they have a hidden game up their sleeves that they will show up, like they did with doom ?

This direct will more than likely focus on Game modes which haven't been talked about at all yet.

it's also likely that Sakurai will also want to talk about the new Stage Hazard toggle which players first noticed was in during the Smash invitational but Sakurai hasn't officially presented yet.

i also expect them to announce 1 or 2 new fighters during this direct of course as new fighters always Hype people.

What makes this direct exciting is the Unknown. in the previous E3 Direct, Smash wanted to focus on the theme "Everyone is here" and about all the returning charcters. coming into this direct, we don't know what they're going to talk about yet, and it's almost 99% certain that most of the stuff they'll talk about this time is new stuff whether that be new fighters, new game modes or new features to already existing modes.

Hype is hype, there's no harm in talking more about it. I just find it funny they're doing the big news AFTER EVO.

Well unless they plan on bringing back the Adventure Mode I'm not really interested.
Ditto. Smash may be the most expected release of the year for the Switch, but fighting games aren't a genre that I enjoy tbh.

actually there's usually a 6-8 year gap in between Smash release's

Smash bros for Switch was always expected. for 2018? that's extremely early for a new Smash bros game to be released,

Smash Switch is expected. but this early definitely was unexpected.

I didn't mean "expected" as in unsurprising, but as a synonym of yearned. Jeez, don't be so defensive.

Don't they still have one or two more characters to reveal? Or was it only all the old ones + Ridley and Inkling? I'm holding my fingers crossed for Rayman now that there is at least a mario+rabbids crossover. Or maybe rabbid peach.

correcting your statement is being defensive now?

if you meant it's the most yearned Switch release of 2018, why not just say that in the first place?

actually Sakurai said "we've made including every single fighter in series history our number one goal, so i hope you're not expecting too many new fighters".

there will almost definitely be more new fighters, but not a tonne of them. i'm expecting about 2 or 3 actual new fighter reveals before launch plus maybe a few echo fighter reveals

most new fighters will probably be sold as DLC though i reckon.

wow, ok, that weas interresting, even if i still think that they are showing way too much of this game. i dont think they have to present every item and pokemon, and that a direct was needed for other matter irght now. the nintendo online service is comming, and we still dont have much detail about that. they should put a direct about that, and then later in september but that one... I mean, yes i will buy the game, yes i'm hype for this, but there's a point where it's pointless to hype people more about it...

anyway, that said, wow this game is massive... so, three new figther, King K roll, and the two Belmont from castelvania. 103 stages, 800 music track... there's this secret mode, that must be a story mode, people will freak out if it's something else.

The reveal of Simon Belmont was pretty cool. they brutally murdered Luigi !

And from the image at the end, i think there probably about two spot that seems empty enough to have new figther in it.

anyone saw the direct ?

From what Maximilian Dood was saying they actually moved characters around in the art to create new empty spaces just for this. Which means we can't go by empty spaces in the character art to determine how many new characters may be coming.

Max is gonna die on screen if Sephiroth ends up in Smash Bros.

His wife as well if Sora from Kingdom Hearts is in this game.

At least they'll go out with smiles on their faces.

Oh my gosh that direct was so good.

Castlevania reps? K Rool? Stage hazards off? 103 stages? Stage Mashups? Smashdown!?

Yeah, if they nail the single player stuff (A simple adventure mode, lots of fun Event Battles, etc) this is gonna be a 12/10 game for me.

I really hope that blurred out mode was a new type of Sub Space Emissary or something similar to that.

That'll be a hell of a feat though, considering if my count is correct we're sitting at 73 playable characters now (including echo fighters)... with more likely coming.

Ok, I needs to talk with y'all.

I'm a fighting game vet. But I never owned a Smash Bros before.

Smash seems to be a new beast for us old fogies. I know the answer is just 'repetition', but how do you advise getting into Smash? Is there the triumvirate of Grapplers, Zoners, and Vortex Smash characters, or is there a whole new way to define characters?

I got my switch. I am ready to learn. I just would like some good sources to do so. Can you recommend any?

These reveals honestly sound like fan-made mods that would be made back in the brawl days. It's glorious! especially the character reveal trailers, really brilliant animation.

I guess you could say this is smash's Finest Hour.
