Smite's New God Brings Love To The Arena


Hello Aphrodite! Are those doves? Not the face! Not the face!

Say hello to Smite's latest recruit: Aphrodite, Goddess of Beauty. And also doves, kisses, and an almighty slap with a Back Off should you get a little closer than she likes. Those are some pretty fun looking moves in the trailer; but she needs a Soulmate to really make them sing. Any volunteers?

Aphrodite's not much without her Soulmate, but a well-matched pair could really run the table. Heals, buffs, and stunning the enemy seems to be this mage-type's forte; God help the team facing off against those doves and kisses, if all goes according to Aphrodite's plan. Though you do have to feel a little sorry for that lovelorn Cyclops! Poor guy never catches a break.

Dear god... we are at it again, I'm just surprised one of her attacks isn't boob slam.

Smite just hasn't been the same since the whole 'Focus' detour. They changed pretty much everything and then changed it kinda sorta back, but it's just not the game it used to be, I can't really explain it. Maybe it's just the bad taste in my mouth.

Well, I just uninstalled League of Legends (because I couldn't get into it)... and I'm currently reinstalling SMITE, since I have enough disk space to support the game again.

I'll have to give Aphrodite a try. Seems like a nice support character.

She's actually a baby sitter, though one could argue she should try and tether multiple gods... But I don't see it, as the one she would go for is either a bruiser, or a hard carry, depending on the situation.

She has the ability to save one god from certain by tethering onto her. But when it comes to pure support, I think Hel still delivers better because she is a free beads of purification(removes all crowd control like slows and stuns, basically) and can heal multiple allies.

So what it probably would come down to is if this god can basically burst heal and give stronger boosts than hel can. But that's my opinion from experience that is a long time ago, so it might not be the same at this point.

Eh, I'm willing to put up with it here, because they are gods. They are meant to look that ridiculous honestly. Now, when you talk about dota 2, I feel it's harder to justify most of the clothes worn by the women. PA has formfitting armor, but the others like their tops low cut.

Not my sort of game but I love to see the creativity those guys put into the characters and mechanics, getting an essentially non confrontational deity into a fighting game takes some decent back story and they pulled it off and then made the characters abilities work into it. Sending love to an enemy so they get stunned by her beauty is pretty inventive.

Wow, the art in this game is really abysmal. It's like a not too creative teenager just got a hold of Photoshop and decided to make a comic.
"We want these drawings to be on stained glass, how do we do it? Just put a colored glass texture over the pen and ink drawings and call it a day."

Whoa whoa whoa. You stop that salty bullshit right now. Aphrodite was not Hera's daughter. Hell, she wasn't even technically an Olympian. She was born when the Titan Ouranos' testicles were cast into the Mediterranean ocean by his son Kronos during his coup. The blood that fell on the water became the three Furies, or Erinyes, while the sea foam that rose up from the roiling congealed and became Aphrodite. Drink that in for a second; Aphrodite is more closely related to the new God of War villains than she is to any of the Olympians.

I also think it's worth mentioning that Eros, who later became Cupid, is simultaneously her son by Zeus and also the second oldest and potentially most powerful being in existence, originally being a Primordial created by THE Primordial, Khaos.

It makes sense with Aphrodite though being that she was often depicted to be quite naughty.
