Hey, I got my Snakebites done today and I'm kind of already concerned already... I don't know if it's just the swelling, but on the inside of my mouth, they seem to be rubbing agaisnt my teeth alot? It's fine when I've got a straight face... But when I smile they really push agaisnt my teeth, and when I talk they clank agaisnt them alot... Is this normal during the swelling proccess? Thank you.

When the swelling goes down, get smaller studs or rings. Alternatively, you shouldn't have gotten a snakebite because they look stupid.

That's just my opinion though lol so pay me no mind.

My advice still stands though.

I didn't know what you were talking about, so I Googled it...

I think God is punishing you for mutilating your face...

Ok, I respect your opinion if you think they look stupid, but it's my decision. Anyway, I wasn't even asking about that, so there was really no need. Is there anyone who actually can talk from experiance?

YES.

I gave you advice. I have two lip piercings myself. I've had them for 5 years so I should know how things happen. Are you going to ignore my advice simply because I said snakebites are stupid? Or because I don't personally have them??

What I said in the previous comment is your answer.

EDIT: if you want more information for satisfaction, here: The piercers give you larger studs/rings to account for the swelling. The swelling itself pushes the piercings back towards your teeth. For a week or two you'll have a little difficulty eating in a dignified manner and you may occasionally catch the piercings on your teeth or whatever you're eating which will hurt. Help much?

Sorry man, but I chose 1.2 if that means anything to you? I don't want to have to get smaller studs, is there any chance that my problem will decrease after the swelling goes down? I apologize.

I should hope 1.2 means something to me lol. I've edited my second post (the one you just quoted) so hopefully that helps. And by smaller, I mean length-wise not girth. If you get slightly shorter ones that should rectify the problem.

Once the swelling goers down it will be fine.
Rings are probably better though so if you have studs, buy rings once the swellings gone.

You should be more worried about the people that say
"oh my god why did you mutilate your face"
"why would you get that done?"
"that looks terrible"
"I would never do that to myself"
"Did it hurt when you got it done?"

I have snakebites.
The wonders never cease with being asked stupid questions.

I recently got one lip piercing.

You will get used to the rubbing against your teeth. It does seem to go down a little with your swelling, but it won't completely. On the plus side, you will get used to talking and smiling with the piercings, and it will become a lot easier.

My lip ring tends to rub aganst my teeth when I smile; it's now become routine to half-smile, move the ring over my teeth and continue smiling. It's a small issue though.

Hope all goes well with your piercings!

Ha, too true. Although I often get asked "why did you get two on the same side?"

Out of interest, what is your answer when people ask if it hurts?

Personally, I ask them if I can jab a knitting needle through their face...

Thanks alot man. Yeah, when I eat I look like a fuckin' animal! Haha. And ok, I probably will end up getting a smaller thingy, because if it stayed like this, it would be horrible! I would probably have to take them out... Drives me mad. Although it is only just my first day of having them, maybe I'm just over-reacting... Anyway thanks everyone! ^ ^

@ShaFe123 I agree with how it's a bit silly that people are making stupid comments like that... But meh, ignoring works best!

It varies on the way they ask it....
"No i love, needles being stuck THROUGH my lip, honestly i'd do it all the time if i could"

most of the replies end up with me emphasising the fact i had a sharp instrument put THROUGH my lip.
So common sense should hopefully kick in and make them realise that maybe it tickled a little bit.
:p

That's ok. Sorry if I appeared snappy the first few comments. New Vegas had a heart attack and died at a crucial moment...*sigh*

You'll get used to them in the end. It's weird, I've had mine in so long I feel so odd when I take them out...My girlfriend says I look really different despite them only being to little lines on the right side of my lip... hrmmm

Ha...When I used to work in a very big name high street shop (Debenhams if you're from England = P), I was surprisingly allowed to keep them in. It actually made a decent conversation-piece with customers. And I liked to think that I was giving a good name to people with piercings everywhere instead of this pre-concieved notion that we're angry, drug-abusing layabouts.

Admittedly one of those things were true for me at the time but I like to think that I was a good advert for pierced teenagers.
