I just popped on to the site and found that all the ad windows are for some porn site that will stream to the ps3. I know that the site generally doesn't shy away from talking about such things, but I can usually control what pops up at work. With the current ads showing on every single escapist page, I'm going to have to limit when and where I open this site. Is this bothersome to anyone else?

yeah this is bothering me as well. i am forced to have monitoring software on my computer for work purposes and i am concerned that the ads are going to flag this site as an issue. i assumed that, as a gaming news website that hosts many popular webshows and content,The Escapist didn't have to stoop so low as to show ads for pornography. what the hell guys...

It's probably not the escapists fault. Im pretty sure that the ones buying advertising get to put up whatever ad they want when they pay for the banners. But this would be against escapist policy and will probably be quickly removed when they realize.

I really hope you are right about this. I don't want to have to worry every time I log on to this site that some one might see it and get the wrong impression.

"It's just a gaming site. I promise!!"

Yeah this bothers the shit out of me as well. I have been allowed to poke around here on my downtime at work but now with those ads there I don't want to risk explaining it to people or letting my touchpad to open up that page.
I'm not allowed to install ad blocker. I have to put in a request and I'd rather not have to provide documentation as to why.

I was actually just about to post about this...I have to say, I don't like this. I mean, the Escapist isn't exactly what you'd call "PG", but this doesn't do any favors to the site's credibility. And I don't want someone looking over my shoulder and seeing an ad for PS3 porn.
