Elitist anime fans ragging on others it's like hurr durr fake gamer girls all over again :D

Annnnnyway

I've watched a fair amount of anime i guess some of my favourites include...

Hellsing (OVA orig was okay but OVA all the way)
Fooley Cooley
Full metal alchemist (both to be fair)
Most shonen stuff including naruto bleach one piece, although soul eater is a personal favourite.
Gauntz (fuck the ending to the anime though)
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Afro Samurai (totally counts)

Whilst i have watched a metric ass ton i don't own any merch and don't advertise the fact i like it as much as i do no reason in particular i'm just not that fanatical about anything really ^^

I understand why people don't like it, it's not for everyone and can be an aquired taste for sure.

I haven't watched an anime series in a while, the last I saw was Monster which I watched around July this year but I can definitely call myself a pretty big anime fan. My personal top three favourites are:

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Code Geass
Gungrave

I was thinking of watching Code: Breaker once I'm done with Justified so if anyone can give me their opinion on that series it would be much appreciated.

When I was in middle school, high school, and college, I watched anime all the time. I was active in the college anime club too, was the Marketing Director my senior year.

But I haven't watched a lot of anime recently, mostly because I don't have the time to sit and crank through several series like I used to. But I still pop in something every now and again, or if Funimation re-releases a series that I enjoyed but missed out on the original DVD release. As far as new stuff goes, I've mostly kept up with Hetalia. 5 minute long episodes are a breeze and something I can easily squeeze in.

I can easily list off 5 faves, in no particular order:

1. Revolutionary Girl Utena
2. Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo
3. Baccanno!
4. King of Braves GaoGaiGar
5. Super Dimension Fortress Macross

I started watching anime roughly 1 1/2 years ago, Cowboy Bebop being my gateway drug as my brother recommended it to me for being good sci-fi.

I think it was after watching 25 episodes of Clannad in a day (which basically took up the whole day) that I thought to myself I'm an anime fan, though I would never say I'm hardcore as I don't really collect much. I usually buy the odd show or movie, and stream the more obscure shows (the UK sucks for availability).

I usually watch two during a given period; one for it's reputation and recommendations, the other being the guilty pleasure. Currently the two are Monster and To aru Majutsu no Index for these respective categories.

My top 10 (descending order):

Cowboy Bebop
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya
Ghost in the Shell (SAC 2nd Gig being best)
Mirai Nikki
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad
Bakemonogatari
Serial Experiments Lain
RahXephon
Samurai Champloo

Worse show I've seen has to be Popotan (it's not even likable bad, I just felt constantly embarrassed and confused), followed closely by Master of Martial Hearts (so bad it's good, especially the ending).

EDIT: Thought I would have a go at listing all my anime too...damn I didn't realise it had been this much in little over a year.

I honestly used to be, but I'm not anymore. The reason is because for over 1 year I didn't have access to a computer with the ability to stream so I couldn't watch any. I used to have a site that I used to watch it on but then the government shut it down. Now I do have a computer and I have the ability to watch anime but I just haven't done so. Mainly it's because I focus on my Let's Plays nowadays and don't seem to have time between school, work, and the LPs to really watch anime. Really I think the only way I could get back on it is if someone tied me down and forced me to watch anime again, which I wouldn't mind as much because I miss anime. I honestly don't know why I've given it up though because it used to be such a huge addiction in my life and used to cure my depressions.

Before I went of the anime craze, I miss it so, I watched these shows:
Shakugan no Shana (really loved it)
One Piece (time skip was cool but I just generally lost interest)
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (only show I actually managed to finish this year)
Started getting into Bleach but then just gave up on it because of fillers
Tried watching the Disgaea anime and enjoyed it, but again due to lack of interest I stopped.

Yes. Yes.

Yes.

I really loved Deadman Wonderland, especially going back and watching the uncut versions of the episodes, and the OVA.

I might be wrong, but the characterisation seemed far more Western like than a lot of anime, in that none of the characters really fit the stereotypes a lot of Japanese franchises rely on (tsundere and the like) and that made it much more enjoyable for me.

Senji is quite possibly my favorite character ever.

I'm watching One Piece, too. Just waiting for the next burst of Funi's dub to hit the internet. I watched Dragonball Z back in the day, and rewatched it in its Kai form recently. I watched Deathnote and Soul Eater, too.

And Hetalia. So nothing compared to a lot of people here. I do like anime quite a bit, but I'm fairly picky.

Just skimmed your list and immediately noticed Azumanga Daioh wasn't present, not even in your plan to watch. If you rank K-ON! third, then you'll love this series also, I highly recommend it!

I'm all for it, i'm not a super massive fan but I am a fan of anime... just not all of it. As Kira has done, i'l link my tiny list.

My list! [http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Elikar]

I'm kinda slow at the moment however on watching anime, as i've been quite busy lately... I need to catch up on things. As you may see from my avatar, my favourite anime series is Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Yes I'm into it as I have a wide range of animes I've watched in the past ( http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Scarim/anime ) but I am not an Otaku would I label myself as that. I no longer keep up to date with Japanese related news (I no longer visit Japanator) and I not exactly watched tons of animes (I'm currently watching 4/5 animes at the moment).

I'm an old school fan.

I don't bother with any of the newer stuff anymore, because quite frankly I think it's horrendous. Maybe it's because I've gotten too old, but all the teenage pandering fanservice the majority of current anime has devolved into is not my bag. Nichijou is the only modern anime that that I find genuinely good.

Anyway, the shows that I like:

- Neon Genesis Evangelion (duh)
- Azumanga Daioh
- Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water
- Golden Boy
- My Dear Marie
- Dragon Half
- School Rumble
- Seirei no Moribito
- Cowboy Bebop
- Black Lagoon
- Kare Kano
- 3x3 Eyes

I also really miss ye old anime feature films, like Akira, Neo Tokyo Labyrinth, Patlabor, Ninja Scroll, and Memories. It's a real shame they don't make stuff like that anymore.

Lupin the 3rd

Big O

Yu Yu Hakusho

Galaxy Express 999
