So rage has been getting alot of hype as well as a lot of negative attention due to marketing decisions and what not.

So I decided to actually look up some gameplay of it. And Dear god. I think I a tear almost came to my eye. This game looks like everything Borderlands said it would before they decided to focus the game completely on lame jokes. You remember that?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3iEuTuKvdU

It reminded me heavily of the borderlands game informer artcile, its world reminds me of a much more real fallout and to tie it all up I saw a few steampunk elements here and there.

In my eyes, this game is everything Borderlands should have been.

So what are your guys thoughts of this game? I realize I am a bit late to the hype party but I would like to hear some more opinions (company marketing decisions aside; focus this conversation on the game itself and your opionion of it)

Why did you put it as R.A.G.E? I'm pretty damn sure the letters don't stand for anything. It's just RAGE. I think this topic should now be about the things R.A.G.E could stand for. Run And Gun Entertainment sounds good. Yeah, I like that.

RAGE looks good, and I want to get it. Being the poor fellow that I am, I can only get one game every few months. I want Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but I also want RAGE. I don't know which one I should get.

Yeah, sweet.

Will maybe buy it on a steam sale some time if it's cheap enough.

I agree with you as I never really liked Borderlands after they changed it up and added in all the 'humour'.
To me R.A.G.E looks very promising and coming from a studio with ID's pedigree and a publisher like Bethesda it should live up to the hype.

Hopefully from my point of view it can be everything I half hoped Borderlands would be.

Im not that hyped by RAGE. It looks good, will play fantastic since it's ID software's baby, but i just don't see the hype...everything in it has been done before.
I think it will score much better then Borderlands did on it's release though.

Probably get it when it gets cheaper.

Fixed. I did it because thats how I saw it multiple times. Freakin toutube videos -_-

I think I may [pass up the new Dues Ex. I have played all of them but honestly it doesn't look much to different from the others. I geuss I want to see what augmentation you can get first.

My games this year are as follows

RAGE
Skyrim
Dark Souls
Bf3 if I can afford it

Borderlands was great.
Rage looks generic and bland in gameplay, and nothing new to me after i played Borderlands in setting.
If it has coop and i see something that sets it above 'point & shoot gun at human enemy #7' ...i might have... some interest i suppose? ...but come on... lame dramatic characters and weapons no different from those in every FPS i can think of... vast majority of enemies are human and dont seem to act differently... 1-hit kill insta-reusable boomerang... nothing its shown so far has been even remotely interesting.

...i might buy it for cheap though, one day.

Odd, didn't even know about Borderlands direction change, I still like what they did with it but they were lacking in story quite badly, not to mention the bloody ending.

And I fear Rage will go the same route, all I've seen sofar is some neat combat with very little else.

I don't know, I wasn't interested in Borderlands until after the big shift in graphics and tone. Before, it was just another "fate of the world, shoot all the mouths you can find that aren't talking about quests FPS".

I mean, it still is, but at least they had the guts to give it a unique visual style and interesting characters...even if they are of the "just because you are a character doesn't mean you have character" characters. lol

I am looking forward to RAGE, simply because Id has a lot of good will from me. They don't promise super refined gameplay, they promise a shooter with fine mechanics and great visuals and they have never disappointed me.

I'm interested in it, but it's definitely a title that I'll get after a price drop or two. Even if it wasn't coming out on the same day as Dark Souls, I still doubt I would fork over 60 bucks for it, simply because I don't like pure FPSs that much.

I'm really interested in it. I'm not sure if I'll pick it up at full price, probably during a steam sale. Right now, my focus is towards BF3, Deus Ex, Dark Souls and Skyrim.

I just hope it's not another Doom 3, excellent graphics but mediocre gameplay and forgettable story.

Just my personal opinion, but I would go with Deus Ex. RAGE looks like a lot of fun, but Deus Ex seems like the kind of game thats going to be regarded as a masterpiece. Those 94% it got from PC gamer dont come easily.
You mean the 94 % that went to Dragon Age 2 aswell? Because if quality is 94 % then PC gamer must have really lousy standards. I already have it pre-ordered of course but I'm not expecting the re-incarnation of God that is the original Deus Ex.

OT: I have been stoked for Rage ever since I bought the ID super pack back in 2009. Playing through Doom, Quake I-III convinced me that ID are the kings of FPS gameplay. Hopefully it won't turn out to be a console-port turd.
