So do you ever type out a post and then change your mind and delete it?

Sometimes I type out an entire post, spending 5 or 10 minutes getting my thoughts together and typing it out and just when I am about to post it I think, "this doesn't need to be said" and I delete it.

Does anyone else do that?

Damn near half my posts.

Usually for reasons along the lines of "This is too God Damn Long/Difficult To Articulate/Stoopid".

I'm a Republican leaning (although technically independent) individual who mostly posts in a heavily Democrat dominated politics forum.

The answer is all of the freaking time.

Yes, I probably only post a third of what I actually write. Most often because I get bored on the subject before I finish or if I get concerned that people will quote me to no end. I like discussions, but I've gotten in so many pointless arguments where the other person just wants the last word that I can't be arsed anymore.

Eyup, do it all the time, generally cause I know I'm in a bad mood during writing it and decide the flaming or w/e from it isn't worth the effort.

Was actually going to typ esomething in the Jimquisition thread, but I didn't cause no one cares that my audio has been killed off somehow

Quite often.

Or you know, sometimes I do want to voice my opinion but I don't want to deal with any responses, so I'll make it as simple (a few lines) and non-threatening as possible, while still trying to give my opinion, so no one will respond to me.

The majority or at least half of escapists aren't from the US. You could say we are left leaning from what I've seen.

Yeah, I do find that I delete my posts a lot because I don't want to come off looking like an idiot.

I'd estimate that about a tenth of the posts I type out actually get posted. The rest get deleted, usually with the assumption that "I can't word this properly, I'm sure someone who is more articulate than myself is going to make the exact same point anyway" or "this is going to make me look like an idiot".

So, yeah... I do it all the time.

Far too many, it's the same thing with emails as well. Mostly out of courtesy, keeping the whole thing nice and concise.

^ This was unedited, though.

All the time. I start typing a post thinking it is going to be funny then I read it again and I delete.

Also, the god of porcupines is a wussy.

Mostly I begin writing post and then realize it has no value or is somewhat mean and could get me in trouble and stop. Notable every time some douche decides to flame my post and get angry and begin a post but then stop and do something else. Don't feed the trolls.

Sure I do. I think it's generally a good idea to look over anything you wrote before posting; I'm sure this practice has kept me safe from mod wrath on several occasions.

Glad I'm not the only one.

I've typed angry posts many times and decided it wasn't worth a warning/suspension/ban and deleted it. Sometimes it helps to type it out, calms you down.

Yeah, I do it every now and again.

Used to do it a hell of a lot more though when I joined, this place was full of grammar Nazis back towards the end of 09 and they'd jump on you for the smallest mistake.

I post roughly a tenth of what I write. Every thread I click on, which is a lot, I write my opinion in this box, then close the thread and never return to it.
Kind of a sad story, I guess, but whatever. Sometimes I just don't feel the compulsion to post my opinion. Nice to see I'm not the only one though :D

if I did post everything I wrote I would have about 10000 posts.
Normally I stop because it could be classed as trolling/stupid/makes no sence ect

Yep, done that a few times. I feel like I have something good but then realize its useless and doesn't add anything so I delete it. Or I might have something but then realize it is flame bait and I don't feel like getting inevitably flamed.

Pretty much all the time
I usually type something out and think "No that's dumb" Delete it and then don't post anything at all.
