Keep in mind that inconsistencies within the story can be ascribed to the narrators being very, very unreliable. For instance, Athena's black eyes and Voice of the Legion are just because Fiona was terrified of her, and so her description of the Vault Hunter reflected that.
One of them could have said the shoe was returned, and the other rolled their eyes but didn't say anything to interrupt.
More interesting than that: If you make a certain choice at the end of episode 2, Rhys' eye turns yellow, as it is in the 'present' segments. But if you don't make that choice, then presumably his eye doesn't change. Wonder where that'll go.

I noticed, and was upset because I made it a point to talk to her and get my god damn boot back. There was also that little part where Sasha and Fiona are talking about when Felix stole the money, and Sasha goes "And I can't believe you let him live." or something very close to that, when I certainly didn't. Sure, Fiona said right after that "Well I did shoot him." because that's the option I picked, but the way Sasha said it was like she forgot that he didn't get away, or that Telltale assumed most people would have let him live by warning him, and wrote that line badly because of it.
To be fair, the gunshot wound wasn't immediately fatal. Sasha might have been upset that Fiona didn't kill him outright (and she would have saved the money). It's mentioned multiple times that Fiona is the best marksman of the cast. It's possible she intentionally didn't shoot Felix in the head.
My biggest problem with the game is that the only person who really carries around an actual gun is Sasha. It's Pandora! There are literally
mountains of guns! And even more mountains of ammo!
