I know there are already threads discussing the new DMC trailer. Mostly revolving around the idea of OMGWTF have they done to Dante??!!! But I can't be the only one to not take it at its face value. I've only just seen the trailer so I haven't done much research into it, but has it actually been confirmed by Capcom or the developer that this is THE Dante? My first thoughts when I watched it was that he was some relation of Dante's named for him. Most likely his son, or Nero's son. Soo I guess my question is, is there anyone else who actually thought outside the box when they saw it or just took it at face value like everyone seems to have? It's just a name after all....

I'm pretty sure they've gone on record saying that this is a full reboot of the series though, which would explain the sudden, radical change in appearance.

Yeah all I've seen is people say they THINK this is what Capcom have said. I'm unsure as to whether it;s true or just the work of the rumour mill. If enough people say it eventually people will just take it as fact

The big question is why does anyone give a rats ass? It's Capcoms IP, they can do what they want with it. If you want a white haired guy dressed in black and red leather to write slash fics about, create a character and go to town.

Do you need a reason to think something/somebody looks stupid? The reason is that the way that he looks is unpleasing to Fargo's eyes. And mine, for that matter. Also, when a game trailer is released, the point isn't to make people think, it's to show people what to expect from the game.

Nah, just missing a fairly niche movie reference (see:Clerks) where the main character's name is Dante. In the end, the only thing aside from visuals that distinguishes DMC from Ninja Gaiden and games of that ilk imo is that it's actually easier and somewhat enjoyable. That being said, I haven't paid attention to the license since DMC4.

Oh ok lol. I know DMC has never been the most original series but its popular and iconic which is why this new trailor is recieving a lot of bad press. But like I say, I'm trying to look at the bigger picture

Well the fact that it's simply titled "DMC" and not "Devil may cry 5" further's my belief that they're starting from scratch.

Now guess what, when you take a character, change him so he looks like you (which he does look like the new director) has the same habits as the new director and is the main character of Devil May Cry, a game that constantly was in the Greatest Hits list. Tell me, did that warrant a reboot? Hell was it worth replacing the old character so we could get a self insert?

Well, the way I see it, the trailer is introductory towards the new reboot and the new Dante. If that character isn't actually Dante it'd be immensely stupid.

Then again, if that character actually is Dante, it would still be stupid.

It's a reboot, I don't know why everybody is so flooping confused.
