Or I think I did. I put it in my bag before work (first shift as well, for fuck's sake) and it wasn't there today when I woke up for my second shift.
The cameras have been checked and there's nothing suspicious there, so more than likely I've dropped it like an idiot and it's still lost or someone has it.
Already moved my account's cash into another account so it can't be accessed, but I lost my license, Myki (smart card for public transport), EB World card, $15 and discounts and memberships for various businesses.
Could have been worse, but I'll have to cancel my cards and get a new license (which sucks because VicRoads isn't open on weekends and I work night shift with only Sunday off until Tuesday).
Also no money is missing from my account, so that's good too.
Chance to get a new wallet! My Derpy Hooves one was getting old and I've stopped liking MLP as much as I did.

What are you wallet stolen/lost stories?

In the years before I ended up taking Education, I was commuting to university and as I was getting on the jeep (basically, a smaller bus built on the chassis of older American military jeeps), I stepped in a pothole and twisted my ankle. I knew the moment I got back up that something was wrong, but I figured I'd try and tough it out and go to my classes for the day, and then go to the hospital later. I paid the driver, then spent the rest of the ride trying to to pass out from the pain.

Later, I got off because I had to take a different jeep to university, and as I walked (limped, more like) to the station, I realized that my wallet was missing (my best guess is that it fell off as I was exiting the jeep). So there I was, about an hour's ride from my house, with a twisted ankle and no wallet.

Luckily, I was able to scrounge up enough cash for the ride to university, but once I got there I realized I couldn't take the pain anymore. I called my mum to pick me up and take me to the hospital, where it turns out that my ankle wasn't just twisted, it was sprained and swollen and I'd basically be on crutches for the next two weeks.

I've never lost or had by wallet stolen, probably because about 20 years ago I went on holiday to a place with a lot of pickpockets and was advised to keep my wallet on a chain, a habit which I've kept up ever since.

The closet I've come to losing my wallet has been a few occasions where I've been very drunk and left my wallet on a bar, but but all that happened was a loud jangling noise as I dragged my wallet and keys off the bar as I walked away, something that immediately alerts me to my mistake. For me to lose my wallet, I'd have to lose my trousers too, something that thankfully I've not been drunk or careless enough to do... yet.

On a related note, apparently keeping a photograph of a baby or small child inside your wallet increases the chances of it being returned by a stupid amount. I heard that someone did an experiment where they left lots of identical wallets around a big city, all with addresses inside, but only some with photos of babies, and almost every wallet with a photo got returned, compared to very few of the babyless wallets.

I once lost my wallet in school.

Found it a year later, covered in gum, pencil shavings, and rat feces. Luckily, nothing had been taken out of it... so I just took the contents and left the wallet there for the underpaid janitor to clean up.

Both awesome ideas. I'll definitely get a chain. I might also get a baby photo or two.

I lost my wallet years ago but this was in the early days of High School which back then everyone was nice back then. I mean I had a sticker of my personal info and someone return it to one of the teacher. Even then it only had a few coins in it so it wasn't serious.

Granted recently I did lose my keys when I went mental with. It was a week before Christmas and I finish my shift and walking back home. It only when I went to the baker that I realised my keys were missing. I figure I must of had it on me and drop it somewhere from work and the baker (othjerwise I would of freak out when I notice my kegs were missing at work) so I try retracing my steps but it was nighttime so visibility was not on my side. The next day I try retracing again but it fail including when I contact the police and the local council (I thought maybe one of the cleaner may had find it during the morning clean up).

Overall I pretty much fail to recover my keys which my parent were made about since while it was only two keys with ALOT of keyrings (I liked to keep it bulky) but it was a direct access to the house so we changed the locks now (they got a FIY friend so it wasn't as expensive as it could of been).

Sure I lost some cool keyrings but the keys itself were important.

Also fun fact, apparent ALOT of people lost their car keys too! I went to the local police station at their lost and found keys and the majority of it were car keys!

I once had my wallet fall out of my pocket as I was standing up to get out of a bus. I realized this as I reached for my wallet for my train pass and it wasn't there. So I had to sprint for 2 NYC avenues to try and catch up to the bus. I do, and i'm standing there breathless, pleading with the bus driver to let me on to look for my wallet. And the asshole driver is like, "Nope, no free rides." And i'm standing there going what the fuck? Then he keeps going on his route, not before I snap a photo of the guy's bus ID. Later that evening I was able to call the bus depot, who, as it turned out, DID have my lost wallet. So I go down to the depot with a borrowed card and everyone lives happily ever after. I hope the driver at least feels a little guilty about it.

I've never lost a wallet, because I never go out with my wallet. I use mine as a piggy bank at home, and when I leave I carry my bills loose. Saves pocket space.

I've been robbed of my money and whatever on the streets, I just never lost an actual wallet to a thief.

Filipino right, huh? Funny, my sister is in college, and she sprained her ankle just by standing. She has a condition.

A week later I sprained my leg while getting into class. Giggled the whole way to the hospital.

OT: Brought about 40 dollars to school to show off . Had a USB with... stuff in it and a physical picture of my family. I found my wallet at the Lost and Found, cept the money was missing. The first thing the guy in the Lost and Found was "Uh yeah, it was returned like that" Of course, they didnt bother to take down name of who returned it. I think I was Grade 5 or something.

I do the same thing actually. I only take my purse with me when I have to go to the bank, because I don't like to have full pockets. As a result, I have (so far) never had my purse lost or stolen.

My car got broken into a couple weeks ago, my phone and wallet were stolen. A week later my wallet was found with everything except the $20 I had in it. I usually don't leave my stuff in the car but I had a long day and forgot. Phone is gone though.

Never even owned a wallet, I carry all my cards in a small card holder thing in my bag or pocket, and any money is just stuffed into a pocket and forgotten about X3. I generally don't carry much cash, people where I live use cards for practically everything.

Someone once stole my bra from the wardobe while I was swimming. I think thats the only thing I've ever had stolen. It was one of my favorites too! Some lady must have thought it looked nice and just helped herself...

The closest I ever came to losing my wallet was leaving it on the counter at the icee stand at an amusement park, in the middle of Summer. Fortunately I live in that part of the country where taking another person's wallet isn't exactly a thought that crosses people's minds so it was there when I went back for it, nothing lost.

I did the wallet chain thing too! But sometime last year, I was rushing to the subway and caught the chain on a handrail at the stairway entrance - the chain broke and I never remembered to get another one. And now I've gotten used to the freedom of not having a chain dangling on my thigh.

I'll drink to that. Also, happy birthday, apparently!

I've had the same wallet for at least 10 years. My only lost wallet story is finding someone elses.

It was when I used to work for the Royal Mail. I was waiting to start my shift when I noticed a wallet on the floor so I picked it up and gave it to the woman on the counter. About 10 minutes later someone came in and collected it. Exciting stuff, I know.

I got pick pocketed once - just my wallet they took. Thankfully I was only like 15 and so my wallet had £30 and nothing else (no bank cards or drivers license or anything vital like that).

I was pretty bummed about it though. I'm pretty sure it was a pick pocket. If not then it's still somewhere in my cousins house and has been there for over 8 years with nobody finding it.

The wallet I have now (and have had since then) has a sturdy chain on it. I mean, realistically a thief could yank at it hard enough to break it but I think they usually want easy targets so that alone I think deters them. It's been that long that I'd feel nervous to use a wallet without a chain...
