Dollars, Sterling, Euro, or something else?

Either way, Logical Increments is a good place to start:

I'd probably recommend a decent unlocked i5 processor as a starting point, and R9 280X or GTX 770 for graphics.
You could also look at the 79xx range, which was AMD's equivalent card before they rebranded to the R series. There might be some on offer soon because stores will be looking to get rid of stock.

For a power supply get Corsair, get 8gb of RAM, as cheap an optical drive as you can get, and as much hard drive as you need.
You could also consider getting a small SSD for your OS, but don't break the bank. A 128gb SSD would be more than sufficient for OS, programs, and a few games.

Providing you are methodical, take your time, and don't force anything, it's fairly straightforward. All of the components come with installation guides and most use different cables connectors to other components, so there's not much that you can do wrong. Honestly, deciding on the parts is usually the hardest bit.

Check out a few video guides of people doing builds, and see if you feel comfortable with it. If so, great, if not you can buy custom builds from any number of retailers, though I couldn't offer specific advice on them because I'm from the UK.

Where are you located? If you're in Melbourne I can help you with it, for a small fee :p

Otherwise watch LinusTechTips guides, or other similar guides on YouTube and BE GENTLE WHEN INSTALLING THE CPU PLEASE.

Also, never EVER defrag an SSD. It won't instantly break it but it will make it run SLOWER and wear it out needlessly.
