I'm buying a PS3 next week and I bought Bioshock so when I buy it I already have a game. Tell me about Bioshock. Is it as great as everyone says? I'm kind of a wimp, so it is like actually scary or just something just jumped out of the dark and tried to attack me.

I was never particularly fond of it, but most people that do like it love it. If that helps/makes sense.

Its not really scary but its pretty fun, and if you haven't heard of the plot twist then well, prepared to be a bit suprised. :D

It's a bit frightening, but it's not a HORROR game. It's meant to be creepy, but it's not something like Dead Space or Silent Hill where that's the main appeal of the game.

It's less about you the player being scared and more about Rapture and it's story.

I think it's great. The "shock-horror" isn't as prominent as some places suggest and the overall gameplay mechanics work really well for the most part.

I had fun with it but whenever I try to go through it again I always lose interest at one specific part. Whether this is poor replay value or just me being weird I don't really know.

I found the gameplay never lived up to the excellent writing and atmosphere. It gets a bit muddled towards the end. It's certainly not perfect but it's unique and polished enough to be a classic in my book. Whether it'll live up to the level of hype people have put on it though. Well I guess you'll find out.

Not that scary, bit difficult in places and it's best to stay off the internet with it's spoilers since I can give a good analysis of the 1st game's plot even though I've only played 2.

Curse you internet.

Yup.

Both, really.

If you don't want to be scared, then follow these tips: When in Fort Frolic, beware of the plaster statues. When in Hephaestus, shoot/hit any corpses you find.

I only played the demo but that part near the beginning with the pram/stroller chilled me to the fucking bone...

Also I'm told if you've ever read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" you know what is going on.

It does have some scary parts and everyone seems to be loving the story and atmosphere.

The clunky combat sadly ruined the game from me. Never got around to finishing it.

It's like HL2. Not really good at anything.
Unlike HL2, it tries the whole RPG thing aswell, and fails miserably. It's a crap shooter, a crap RPG, a crap story. Just overall crap, BUT i did like the graphics.
As for the hacking game, just...wow.

I'm one of the wussiest gamers ever. I couldn't play BioShock past the first boss. The constant whispers of disturbed people just around the corner who may or may not jump out at you is too unnerving. It took me like 10x longer than the average person to get the the point that I did get to because I was so scared to just walk in a room. I'd peek in, run backwards because I saw something (though it might have just been a chair), and creep slowly.

And I was playing the game with all the lights on in the middle of the day and playing She & Him in the room. Hope you're not as faint of heart as I am.

Of note, I find people losing their humanity and living an existence of despair, paranoia, and mutilation much more horrifying than any Monster, ghost, or demon.

Combat's a bit clunky, difficulty is wonky especially considering death has little penalty and at some point towards the end you are so swimming in cash you are looking for excuses to spend money. The actual game part is kind of weak, but the different plasmids are fun and I noticed that a lot of people use different ones, so you can have fun with that. Also the story is excellent.

It CAN be scary, but it's a good scary. This is coming from another huge wimp, by the way. Trust me, you have nothing to worry about.

Yeah, no cheap jump scares or anything. Well, maybe a few, but they all have build-up. It's more creepy then anything else.

Just play the game, it's amazing.

Don't listen to this man, he is wrong. And possibly trolling.

It's an opinion. I hated the game with a passion. Not just because of what the reviewers had built up, but because it was sad to see how many people could enjoy this tripe.

It's rich in atmosphere and the story is well done and interesting. Not very scary, but it has a certain eerie feeling to it. I'd say go for it, I loved it and while the sequel wasn't the best of games, I'm eagerly looking forward to Bioshock Infinite.

its a fantastic game. the gunplay is fast and furious (with the addition of SUPERPOWERS), the atmosphere and setting is fantastic, there is the best plot twist ever, and it is just FUN.

as for scaqry, i can think of exactly 3 moments that were actually terrifying. everything else is just sort of a downplayed creepiness.

So your defending your opinion that it sucks more than you actually think because people have a different opinion?
