Holy crap this was the game I've been looking for. It is just so big, and the music... I could fall asleep listening to the soundtrack.

I really don't know why I love this game so much. The only "traditional" RPG I played before it was Dungeon Siege. I've played Bioware's other series, Mass Effect and KOTOR, but I never played Neverwinter Nights or Baldur's Gate. I just don't know why I am so drawn into this game.

The characters are great, so far I have Leliana, Allistair, Morrigan, Sten and my Mabari.
Even the combat feels cool. Its like a more tactical version of KOTOR.

I know a lot of you also like this game, and I would really appreciate hearing your opinions.

I finished it a week or so ago.

It takes a LOONG time to finish. I'm playing through the Awakening expansion now.

I found the combat particularly interesting, the strategy involved in coordinating attacks and making sure the enemy doesn't kill your mage is interesting.

but I never played...Baldur's Gate
HERETIC

Seriously though, the complete box set of both BG1+BG2+Expansions is like a tenner online. Considering how many hours you can sink into that game, it's a crazy good deal.

Nice that you like Sten. A lot of people really hate him which I think is a shame since our cookie-loving battle machine of death is a good guy all around. The metaphor of a stark cultural divide behind his character and the player (one which any player of Jade Empire or Baldur's Gate) is hardly a new theme for Bioware and it's one they do relatively well.

Assuming you have the DLC, get Shale before you do Orzimmar and take her with you if you want to see her whole storyline.

I enjoy it. The combat is very fluent and functional. there's plenty of items to find that can be used to change around the stats of the character, but my personal favorite is the dialogue. I must say that Bioware knows how to make people laugh just listen to about 75% of the banter between Alistair and Morrigan and you'll see what i mean.

The Shale DLC code expired back in April didn't it? So don't I need to go with Bioware Points to get it?

And a long game? Good, I've been itching for a new time sink, Mass Effect 2 was too short in comparison to this.

First off, always have Alistar in your group, no matter where you go. Everything he says is dynamite and he makes great company.

Second off, if you want to follow the romance story lines, then don't forget to give gifts to the person you are trying to seduce.

Third off, obey points one and two.

Fourth off, obey point three.

etc.

What? Running stark naked through the streets because you failed your religion? Those two are awesome for comedy.

No idea if the DLC codes expire. They might have printed new ones. I dunno. Best bet is (assuming you have a code) try it and see if it works. If it's expired, you might be able to get it "renewed" or just bite the bullet and pay Bioware points.

Glad that you liked it. I love the game too. Just remember that quests and locations are leveled so you can't go wherever you like.

Dragon Age: Origins is a very good game. One of the things I am doing is creating a male and female character for every race and class. Mainly because I like to see how different the reactions will be to my character.

Yes they are. I also like Shale's lines about killing birds.

Well, that kinda sucks. I mean, its cool to return to starting zones when you reach a high level.

Congratulations, it's one of my favorite games (so far). Definetly my favorite BioWare game I've played (I haven't played KOTOR, Baldur's Gate, or Neverwinter Knights yet. Notice the "yet").

Alistair makes this game gold.

Oh, and I take it you played as a healer? Because you didn't make a point about always having Wynne with you if you actually want to beat the game.

just make sure that if you do that

You side with the golem (I forget his name) and NOT the dwarf, otherwise the final battle will be 10x harder.
