This morning I headed down to the local mini market to pick up a pack, when I noticed an E smoke starter kit for 9$. I thought to myself "What the hell" pick that up and a regular pack of smokes. Since I've moved out here to Texas I've become a heavy smoker, going form a pack every three day to a pack a day. So far using my little E cig I've only had 2 regulars todays by now I would be halfway through my pack.

The only trouble I've had so far is its hard to know when to stop, so you have to watch yourself. Other than that no smell and it came with a USB charger so when I plug it in it looks like my computer is having a smoke, and I get a kick out that. I've never had the intention of quitting smoking, but after finding this gizmo I'm seriously considering it now.

Topic/discussion here
The only reason I've never tried E smoking before was the price but since they have gotten cheaper and easier to use(Another turn off I found when looking at E smoke was chemicals and maintenance the one I got is just a cartridge I think) could they very well be replacing the old fashioned tobacco? Is everything soon truly going to go digital(in a sort of way) including smoking?

What you think escapist?

And if your a E smoker I want know I little more about it and any particular brands that I could check out. I'm a camels man myself so anything to that extent and flavor if you know any.

Wow, that's weird, but creative!

Good to see your chances of dying of a terrible inner death have been slimmed.

I think I heard somewhere that those Esmoke things were neaarly as bad, if not just as bad, as regular cigaretes. Don't take my word for it, it probably isn't true.

OT: The advancement of technology is inevitable.

What I hate is the unneeded attachment of the letter E or I to things that already have sufficent names.

Its a vaporizer.

Beyond that, Vaporization tends to be a degree safer/healthier, but these things are only a couple years old and with such the jury is still out if they have any other unanticipated side effects.

I know what they say, "Quitters never win......free stuff from Marlboro" but smoking is a very unneeded habit, and its just a wasted expense. Honestly you would be better off quitting and saving the money, because regular or vaporized its still a luxury that wastes money on a consumable product. Just my 2 cents after smoking for 15 years and quitting over the course of 1 weekend, and havent smoked in over a year. It can be done.

I don't smoke frequently enough to really justify dealing with them (I smoke maybe a pack a month).

But I have several friends who absolutely swear by them. I know people who have used them to quit smoking and I know smokers who still smoke and keep them around anyway just because you can smoke indoors without the lingering smell. One guy in particular still won't shut up about his realisation that this meant he could smoke in bed after sex.

And if you do manage to quite, good on you! It's a remarkably unhealthy habit and, if this is an acceptable alternative to you, why not?

(Edit: Yes, they're somewhat untested, no this doesn't mean "the jury is still out". We've known for a long time that the biggest problem with cigarettes in terms of health is the tar burning. Not only should the cartridges be free of tar in the first place, since it's just vaporising the liquid, it shouldn't really matter anyway. I have seen some reports of some of the cheaper cartridges having adulterants though, so it may not be a bad plan to just google around a bit and look into whatever sort you're buying right now.)

A friend of mine just started e-cigs. He noticed a slight hazelnut flavor in the unflavered cartridge, does yours have a flavour? We're trying to figure out if it is a added flavour or if thats how nicotine tastes.

As to if this is the way of the future..... no. At least not here in Australia. We have to import them from New Zealand (well we couldn't find anyone over here that sells them, so if anyone can correct me here, please do) and thats more hassle than most people would even consider. That and the lawmakers have enough trouble keeping up with tech, I think their heads would implode if we let them know about these.

I still don't understand the appeal or the science behind this. I don't really support tabaco or anything tabaco like though so I'm in favor of saving your money but quitting smoking all together. Cheaper in the long run. Also, shame on you for letting Texans start you smoking. It's a nasty habit.

I'm sorry, but I can't seem to understand what we are talking about here, and a google search only confused me more : S

Could someone please explain what E-smoke is?

As a Lucky/Camel smoker it wouldn't hurt to know about a less dangerous alternative.

So I assume that you eat nothing but the cheapest staple foods? I mean, anything else is a luxury that wastes money on a consumable product.

This sort of logic regarding cigarettes always seems so silly to me. The same suggestion that it "isn't necessary" or "is a waste of money" can be applied to damn near anything. Of course it isn't "necessary" - pretty much nothing you spend money on is strictly "necessary". And it isn't a waste of money - you wanted cigarettes and you spent money and got cigarettes. If there were no actual benefits to smoking it would indeed be a waste of money. But if there were no actual benefits to smoking no one would pay money for it in the first place.

The problem is that there are tremendous downsides to smoking, not that there's a lack of upsides (since, again, it wouldn't be a problem if there were downsides and no upsides - people wouldn't buy it in the first place).

Didn't notice it really before but yeah it does kinda of taste like hazelnut, while more like hazelnut coffee creamer which is kinda weird. Not sure if its unflavored or not, in fact it didn't even tell me much about it besides how to charge and use it. It came in a little package like the kind batteries come in with two cartridges and a charger.

It's a small cigarette-shaped device, usually you charge it via USB. You fill it with small cartridges of liquid that typically contain nicotine and some flavourings. The benefit of them over regular cigarettes is that they don't contain tar and only heat to the temperature necessary to vaporise the liquid rather than the extremely high temperatures cigarettes burn at (the high temperatures in cigarettes lead to a lot of chemicals beyond the nicotine ending up in the smoke). You can find them at gas stations now.

As mentioned above, it's worth googling around a bit to get a sense of what cartridges are trustworthy. I've seen numerous studies showing that a lot of them are adulterated, which could be just as bad or worse than a cigarette depending on what they're adulterated with (and they often contain less nicotine too, which could be a problem if you're a smoker already). If you do find a reliable cartridge though, it's pretty inescapably better for you than smoking cigarettes.

Just quit cold turkey and if the going gets rough, use patches to ween you off. When I was quitting I also saw those electronic cigarettes. More expensive than the damn cigarettes if I recall.

Thanks!

I will now proceed to look around in my hometown for these interesting little things!

I've quitted the smokes, was on about a pack + a day, for 9 months now. And was having that habit for about 12 years. If you want to quit, just quit, don't swap the one habit for the other. It still makes you feel like you need something you CAN do without. Just pull trough and you'll feel better and less dependant. Good luck!!!!

A friend of mine quit smoking after getting an E-cig, I don't usually smoke but I have had some of his E-Cig a few times and I can say... it's just better. It has any flavour you want, it doesn't hurt your lungs at all, it has practically no effect on your health. I think it's a brilliant idea.

Nah as tech moves forward there will always be that one thing that jut holds back. like the Omash ( I do not beleive I spelt that right)

On a side note a smoking computer is kinda awsome!
