So I just watched Angel Beats and never has an anime caused my to cry from laughter and then turn around and make me cry manly tears from a tragic story from many of the character past. Instantly this puts it up there with my most favorite animes of all time.

1.Cowboy Bebop
2.Outlaw Star
3.Angel Beats
4.Samurai X

So my question to you escapist is what animes have made you cry from laughter and/or manly tears?

Also anyone know of any anime like Angel Beats?

That's...hard to call. So instead, I will ask you if you saw the extra episode with the 'intensity meter'. If not, you need to go find it and watch. It is pure hilarity.

I've never cried from anime before but Clannad brought me closest to tears more than any other anime, After Story as well. They were also really funny, I don't want to spoil anything so i'll just say that Fuuko is one of the most hilarious anime characters ever.

Clannad was basically made to bring people to tears if they have a heart at all.

But, the parts without Fuuko all suck. I hated After Story. >.>

@OP: Angel Beats is indeed pretty awesome. You should consider checking out its other incarnations.

I'll admit, Angel Beats made me cry. Others are Millenium Actress, Paprika (After Satoshi Kon died the film took on a whole new meaning), Tokyo Godfathers (Notice a trend?), Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (Shut up, the last episode was sad), Digimon Adventure (Back when I was little), Pokemon (Remember the episode when Pikachu left forever? Lol.), Fullmetal Alchemist (When that certain character dies in Episode 25 and, when a certain chimera is created before that), and I think that's it...

Angel Beats was alright.
Clannad was fantastic. Although I didn't cry in either of the anime, I admit that Clannad is much better. Fun fact: Angel Beats' story by the same person who did Clannad's.

It didn't have me crying, but I came pretty damn close. I mean, sure, I think the series felt just a little abridged (about 14-16 episodes, if memory serves), making the ending into a case of "these guys are tragic! cry!" But you know what? It still worked. Especially the long goodbyes between the main characters.
And yes, it was also hilarious, even when it made me feel a little wrong for laughing.

Well, the classroom scene from episode 5 of Angel Beats! left me laughing for like 5 minutes straight, to the extent that I had to pause it while I calmed down. Other than that, though, I ended up not really liking the series. (And that was before I figured out, 5 minutes after the last episode, the massive continuity-breaking plot hole)

I teared up pretty badly during the Disappearance movie for Suzumiya Haruhi and the 24th episode of Azumanga Daioh. Other than that though, not much to speak of.
