... and I would be grateful for some constructive criticism.

Basically, I've started using my youtube channel to post some let's play series (one is a co-op Minecraft challenge map and the other is a Fallout 3 lp) and, while we're not at all experienced yet, we had to start somewhere.

If anyone would be willing to take a few minutes and look over some of the videos and offer some advice on any problems you find (I'm sure there are lots).

Thanking anyone willing in advance for their time :) hopefully you find some potential there.

(P.S. I am aware of the sound issue with the first 3 videos. We had some problems with the audio, but fixed the problem recently)

The channel can be found at:

The biggest challenge you will face is keeping with it. I wish you all the best, and I shall watch these :)

Hmm....You might wanna be a bit more enthusiastic....

But always when doing LP's at least with those who've I've watched...and directly from the mouth of NCS

Always have something to talk about. Talk about anything, but It's understandable that you wanna be quiet in the beginning bits.

I will keep that in mind... I try to remind myself, but it's like my brain shut's off when being filmed :)

thanks for the advice!

Well I can't watch the videos now ( can later ) a few tips all lp'ers should always keep talking. Try and make it relevant to games or gaming in general though. Some lets players just STOP talking randomly in their videos when they run out of things to say which just makes it boring.

I started a let's play, but I basically got a warning from youtube saying that it contained content from somewhere else, so I'm getting paranoid about continuing. If you want to watch me fail its here: http://www.youtube.com/user/gamerygames but i'm wondering if you had the same problem. I will watch yours as well to see how it differs, cause I am pretty noobish at this currently as well. Good luck to both of us.

Basically, Youtube automatically detects snippets of licensed music. This happened to me when filming my first Fallout 3 episode, because it played part of "I don't want to set the world on fire." There doesn't seem to be any problems, but it can be contested (if you want or get harassed about it), as I'm 99% sure that music filmed from a game that licensed it falls under fair use. There shouldn't be any problems though.

Also, your videos look pretty good, for starting out. Good luck to you too :)

I'll do my best to remember that :)

Put the videos into playlists. So much more convenient.
And this may make me sound like a bit of a dick, but my advice would be to not do LPs of games as popular as Fallout 3 or Minecraft, at least until you get a bit more popular. They've been done some many times, and unless you're doing something really special, I doubt you can do anything to make them stand out from the massive amounts of slog that take up youtube.

You might want to lower the game volume a tad bit
it also sounds like your voice is hushed up a bit. like you're recording in the middle of the night and don't want to wake up someone two rooms over

You have good guilty which is AMAZING, too many people have crappy captures.

Don't address the audience, just get into the game and voice out what your thinking at the time.

Best advice yet. Though I think it is best to start off with a bigger game, then do a lesser known one. A bigger title more people have done I think allows you to get any issues out of the way, then you can take a more original LP and know what to expect.

Example: My friend and I started (and recently finished) a Let's Play of Resident Evil 5. Its a popular game, so we figured it would be searched enough. Now, we're starting a basically unheard of game called Rock of the Dead, a "rhythm" rail-shooter type thing (we're called Zombiethongaming. Take a guess at what we try to focus around).

And playlists are key. So much easier for viewers to navigate.

Okay, thanks! I'll try to make the volume more comfortable in the future.

I put the videos into playlists about an hour back. Still, thanks :) (if it's not showing up for anyone, I'm not sure what the problem is)

And no, you don't sound like a dick. My main issue is that I really don't know what less-common game I could do. I would greatly welcome any suggestions.

Plese tell me that was a joke.

OP;
I will say that doing a Minecraft LP means you aren't really off to a good start, though since you're doing challenge maps it's more tolerable than just LPing stand-alone Minecraft. It's just a really over-done thing and the game would possibly make it difficult to keep entertaining commentary going.

Also you are likely to get more meaningful responses if you provide a link to one video (preferably your most recent) rather than your channel page.

Also, the Let's Play Forum is a good place for this stuff.

Minecraft and Fallout 3? Fantastic choices, you've gained points from me.
Though I've already seen a F3 run, and I'd probably only buy into it if there are interesting mods involved... actually I should get on with releasing my own videos, I bought an £800 pc especially for that purpose.

Minecraft though I will watch regardless! I'll give you feedback when I've watched them.
Good luck dude.

It could help you to have a friend or something in the room basically as an avatar for the audience you'll be talking to.

Otherwise, good luck. I've kind of wanted to try an LP, but I don't have a capture card and don't want to try it enough to buy one.

EDIT: Also your name is Dr. Horrible and that's awesome.

I'm not trying to advertise, I'm hoping to get some constructive criticism on something that I'm very much a noob at. Someone can't just start and immediatly recognize all of their problems.

Well then you might need to make playlists visible, I can't find them anywhere on your page.
As for less common games, well... it doesn't have to be completely unknown or anything, but just look through your library for any old games that you've enjoyed, give 'em a search, and if it's not flooded with other Let's plays, go ahead.
