Not really. Just dive in headfirst and have a blast! The game's deservedly a GotY contender, and you're in for a treat!

Never 100%ed any of the games and don't really know what advice you're looking for... It's just a great game (yes ending was a little meh but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be). Start it up and have a blast, I know I did.

You will meet a certain individual named Marauder Shields at some point near the end of the game, and he will try to kill you.

Botch it right there and headcanon the rest. Even with the Extended Cut, which made the ending only slightly less of a disaster, headcanon will probably feel better for your mind in the end.

There will be a ton of silly sidequests that require you to scan planets for objects. You get them by walking pass people in the Citadel who just happen to be talking about them and once you get them you give them to the person who you overheard talking about them. Do not feel like you have to do them all. They are tedious, needlessly pad the game time, disrupt the flow of gameplay and are of no consequence whatsoever.

You've seen the shitstorm. I'm sure you have, unless you've been on an Internet hiatus for the past 6 or so months. Now i'm sure you're thinking "well it can't be all that bad, people are just exaggerating" no. Stop, expect the worst, literally the worst thing you can think of happening at the end of ME3. Ok, got it? Good. You may be prepared for the ME 3 ending.

I never bothered with the Extended Cut. Can't be bothered to download it and to be honest i've sort of stopped caring.

Don't get me wrong 99.5% of the game is fucking awesome! You'll probably love it. However, the ending really, really is that bad.

Never forget. He held the line.

Honour the final boss.

God bless you, Commander Shields.

You picked a good time, I just noticed on new article on this very site that said Bioware are releasing a major patch for all systems tomorrow that fixes up a bunch of glitches.

Explore the levels, it is quite easy to miss new mods/weapons/armour otherwise.
Other than that there isn't much to be said.

Pretty much. Mass Effect 3 has a "fuck you" button if you play as Vanguard. And with that geth shotgun it's such an overkill even on Insanity.

Any time someone tells you, "Go visit so an so. There might be some time," do it right away. If you do any missions before you go visit said person, you will miss the meeting. There's a part half way through the game where you're told that you can go visit someone. It's soul-crushing and brings a tear to my eye every time, but it's worth it.

Explore levels, especially N7 and non-main-storyline ones, utterly and completely. Items for completing quests are in these levels. After you recruit your forth (or third, depending how you look at things), start checking each quest level. Each has one item for a side quest in it.

You say you completed both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 100%. I'm assuming you are referring to trophies/achievements. Do a normal run first for two reasons: One, you can enjoy the game without stressing about it. Two, you can import your character and weapons into your insanity run. This helps greatly, which I'm sure you already know. Throw in the fact that you can now upgrade all your weapons twice as high (level 10 instead of 5) on a second run, and insanity is much easier.

Touching insanity again. The last four enemies you fight are crap. It may take you a few tries. First time I fought them on insanity, it took me a good twenty minutes. All I can say is aim for the head on the first three, then center mass for the last one. And pray.

When you are doing a main storyline mission on a planet, you'll note that there a side missions available on the same planet. Complete all of these before you do the main mission. They have a HUGE impact on how the mission will end, especially one of the later missions.

When scanning solar systems, scan planets first. That's where the good resources are. Most of the time, the stuff floating out in space is just fuel, nothing special.

Tell Kelly to change her name. Don't ask, just do it. Tell her to change her name.

Have fun.

That's all I--WAIT! I forgot. Find Conrad. After the halfway point in the game--it's the part where you're told to go visit someone--go down to the docks. Start the medi-gel side quest by talking to a doctor. However, as soon as you start the quest, pull up your map and look for Conrad. This is the ONLY time you can talk to him, and it's hilarious.

Who was it? Spoiler it for me please! I probably did it already anyway and I don't want to go back to ME3 if I didn't.

1. There's a poster for the new Blasto movie tucked away in a back corridoor in the Presidium Commons - click it. Click it again and again ;)

2. Repetitive as it is, go through the Normandy from top to bottom after EVERY mission, even side quests, and talk to EVERYONE. There's a heap of unique dialog that you'll only get one opportunity to hear.

3. Counter-intuitive as it is, ALWAYS leave the main/"priority" missions until you've done all the possible side quests. There are few points where once you've done a priority mission, a chunk of side quests will become permanently unavailable.

Ignore the people saying don't bother with ME3 that's my advice. .005% of a game being bad doesn't make the entire thing bad.

There's worse endings.

It's a lot of excitement, bioware poking fun at themselves (Shepards amazing dance I've dubbed "the Shepard Shuffle") fun gunfights and amazing sci-fi visuals that blow minds.

Just avoid the majority of the shitty side quests, there's a ton of little ones you get on the citadel and you only need to do a fraction of them to raise your EMS high enough for the best ending. At least if you download the Extended cut DLC, it lowers the necessary EMS by like a thousand or so points.

Be sure to do all the quests etc you can before each priority mission, as they move the timeline along and can end up having you lose quests etc.

Otherwise, just enjoy the game and be sure to download the Extended Cut.
