And I need some advice. Ive already got the hilt and Im planning on making a blue non-retractable glowing blade. But im not sure what material to use or long it should be. Im planning on using LEDs in the blade. But if any one has any better ideas Id love to here them.

Thanks

I would say just some think glass, safety glass, or some nice plastic and use that. I really don't do things like this, so all I'm saying is that sometimes you can't beat the basics.

If you want to use it for decoration, use cheap plastic or safe glass.

I suggest using acrylic sheets, thin ones. If you have the skill, try and make a dome shape for the top.

If yo didn't already have the hilt then I would have suggested using a clear, paper thin material that you could inflate with air that would retract into the hilt. This would give you a nice woosh sound. It may be inaccurate, but baby steps. The problems with this would be finding a thin enough material that would also be able to move while staying parallel to the hilt. For that you might need to use small metal 'arms' that would extend when turned on. This is just brief ideas of course.

And you already have your hilt so it's pointless... kinda.

Get in contact with the user Jamanticus. He builds replica Lord of the Rings and Star Wars props as a hobby.

Travel to Tatooine and talk to Old Ben Kenobi and then he should be able to g-oh...Star Wars wasn't non-fiction? Damn. I agree with Anarch ^ ask that guy and you might get an answer. Although I'd use plastic/safety glass with LEDs inside it. And make the sound effects with my vocal chords. VRRRM!

Never mind, I need to read things more thoroughly. I don't have advice for a lighted blade... I can build hilts from plumbing parts and blades from more plumbing parts, PVC and duct tape... mine are meant for light sparring/fencing.

LEDs won't cut through anything. Sounds like you need some plasma.
