Hello fellow escapists, your sagely guidance is required!

Basically I need to get from Manchester to London, bear in mind I have £1 to my name.

Do I:
A) Hitch-hike.
B) Try to blag the coach service (megabus) to let me on a later coach despite the fact my ticket was for 2pm today.
C) Swallow my pride, ring the parents and get them to pick me up (least preffered option).

Any other suggestions are welcome. Oh and Merry Christmas everyone!

Swallow your pride. That's the most sensible option.
exactly this. i don't know what hitchhiking or mass transit buses are like in the UK, but here in the States, you're putting your life in serious jeopardy with either of those options. making it home alive is worth far more than your pride.

*edit* also, it appears you've made a double thread...

Since you have access to the internet, I assume you either have a cellphone or a computer.

Sell it.

Hitch-hike!

It's fun, and it always brings for nice conversations.
That is...IF someone stops for you.

otherwise 3.

@valufric

Good suggestions but my mobile is 4 years old and barely clinging on to life, no one in their right mind would even give me a £1 for it. My PC is the only thing of any real value to me I own and frankly I'd rather walk to London than sell it, even if I could in such a short time period.

So I've made my decision, hitch-hike it is! Should be an experience at least, if I can't get a ride then option C is always available. Wish me luck and thanks for the advice.

You could've put on some kind of show in Piccadilly Gardens for money, or teamed up with that one homeless dude with the electric guitar and danced to his music until you had enough change for a train ticket.

I would've given any spare change to see that.

Best bet? Talk to the bus company. If you're lucky, they'll let you travel on a later bus, as long as missing the earlier one wasn't for a particularly stupid reason.

Public transport in the UK tends to be pretty safe. Not many axe murderers on the overnight express...

Manchester to England?
Only down the bloody road.
Manchester to London? Only down the bloody road? Rubbish

It's only UP the bloody road, you've gotten your Norths/Souths mixed up.
