Yay woot, USA! USA! USA!

Happy July 4th everyone! Yes I know the one day a year where Americans have a decent excuse to be blatantly patriotic so I am going to milk it for what its worth.

Anyway I read the news recently and couldnt help but notice that Canada Day is celebrated just a few days before Independence Day is...that is kind of interesting, didnt notice that before. Well done Canada.

So did any of you do anything special over the holiday weekend (obviously this would be directed to Americans as I dont expect people from other nations to celebrate American Independence, its not your holiday after all)?

Personally I had family over and we grilled Hamburgers and steaks. Oh and yesterday while I was walking the dogs I saw a flight of about 5 F-16s fly overhead. I found out later that they were probably overflying the Texas Ranger's game which was played in a Stadium in the town I live in.

DOWN WITH THE BRITISH!

I'll being going down to the fireworks show at my high-school. Apparently there will be only one fireworks show in Chicago this year, and I'm not walking to navy pier.

I salute our men and women in Uniform across the seas, battling those who destroyed our landmarks almost one decade ago.

Me? I'll probably be hanging around with the friends after work and seeing what's "going on". But yes...Happy Independence Day to all the Americans here!

Oh joy, we became independent this day several hundred years ago. So did... most of the western world, at some point or another. Get over it, America. It's not like you've really done much good in the last few decades.
Yeah liberating millions of people from despotic governments...for shame....

What's this treason thing? Its not treason if you win.

Actually technically since the United States declared its Independence we no longer acknowledged the King as our soverign ruler so we weren't trying to overthrow the government of Great Britain, we were just saying that it has no authority over us. Mind you had America lost the conflict would have been remembered as a rebellion or a revolt and the leaders would have been executed as traitors which is why I said that its not treason if you win.

Well I asked what people are doing for Independence Day. Yes ok it probably should be in off topic but I guarantee you that have one there and besides I wanted to ask it to the people on the R&P forum because I spend most of my time here and don't really know anyone on the Off Topic forum.

Besides I am sure we will get a few people in here talking about how horrible America is and we can get a nice R&P discussion out of that. I mean Cadet has already got us started.

Bah. Completely normal work day here, just came home. Oh, but I was given some ice cream. So that's almost as good.

I'm going to celebrate the birth of my nation by blowing up a small part of it.

Hookers? Wasnt the joke during the buildup for D-day that the problem with the Americans was that they were overpaid, oversexed and over here? By the way if I recall the response from the Americans was that the British were underpaid, undersexed, and under Eisenhower (Ike didnt like this response as he was trying to keep the coalition together which usually involved telling GIs not to tell the British that America won WWI...for obvious reasons this tended to annoy this).

Just remember proper firework safety. Also don't put a black cat in an ant hill, oddly enough some of the buggers tend to survive and go flying towards you.

Also make sure its legal to shoot off fireworks where you are. Private use of fireworks is against the law in most heavily populated areas without a permit I think (you know for sporting events and organized celebrations).

Safety? Now that's just un-American! I'm gonna make a sparkler bomb with an m80 inside and roman candles sticking out the sides, and I will launch it using a thousand bottle rockets! 'MERICA!

[small]Thanks for the reminder. :)[/small]

I wonder what would happen if you tied a small canister with napalm to a rocket. Would it leave a fiery trail?

Yes like I said, it would be odd if people in other nations are celebrating Independence Day, its not your holiday. Americans don't celebrate Canada Day...though it does apparently occur a bit before Independence Day.

Sounds fun, just one question, what is lamb vindaloo?

Indian lamb dish that will make you sit on a toilet for a week if your not used to spicy food. But if you like spicy you should definitely look up a recipe. it is FUCKING awesome!
