How do you think this will turn out? The devs said they are making it scarier than the first, and I think it will be great fun with a friend.

An interesting thing to consider is the ammo, health kits, and gas mask filters. In single player you find these scattered around, and they are precious and not to waste. In co-op you will probably have to share them in order for you both to survive, it could lead to some interesting experiences :D

Thoughts on how co op will play out? Good or bad?

Would be awesome. Would be interesting if players had to split paths, share their gear and meet up again later.

That and maybe play as one of the other rangers? Step into the irradiated boots of the wise cracking Ulman or back-from-the-dead Pavel.

Word on the proverbial street is that co-op will be separate from the main single player plot too

Currently watching to see how the community reacts to this versus the Dead Space 3 co-op.

I'm actually one of the people looking forward to Dead Space 3. Yea I know "durr hurr I'm an internet tuff guy who doesn't afraid of anything and Dead Space was never a scary game durrrr". I think they did a good job of being scary games, and while Dead Space 3 doesn't look AS scary, you fight giant lovecraftian horrors as apparently this marker is just spawning giant gods at this point. And you know what? That's COOL. We've already seen 2 iterations of zombie necromorphs that control people, so giant godzilla sized cthulian necromorphs seems like a fun transition. Also the third person cover is only for the battles with human (makes reasonable sense). I can trust Visceral Games to make it believable in the Dead Space Universe, so I'm not going to dismiss it automatically because the words EA are going to be on the box.

About Metro anyways, lol. I think it sounds like fun, as long as they don't build the game around it. I don't want to tag along an npc, and I don't want to be forced to do 2 person puzzles while playing single player. Its all about execution.

never played Metro

in general I'm suspicious of CO-OP getting added to games, I don't like it to be forced down my throat

Well if you go in for the horror then don't bring friends, because they will always pull you right out of the setting, but if you want to shoot mutant shit with mates then this is what you want.

Either way Metro was never my cup of tea because the best thing about it was atmosphere, they really capture the desperation of that world well, however I don't play games to depress me.

First of all. DAMMIT WHY DO THEY HAVE TO SHOEHORN MULTIPLAYER AND COOP INTO EVERYTHING!!!
Secondly It could be kinda fun but well...........

Not gonna bother.

Metro's saving grace is it's atmosphere. That gets destroyed when you have friend playing with you screaming "AHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEUHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHEHUEHUEHEUHEUEHUEHUEHUEHEUHEUHEUHEUHEUEHUEHEUHEUEHEUHEUEHUEHEUHEUHEUEHUEHUEHUEHUE" in skype every 2 minutes.
This ^^
One of my favorite things about Metro 2033 was it's atmosphere and that is ruined when playing with another person. Playing with bot companions can be fun and work well even, but with another person the atmosphere just isn't as good.
It will still be fun to play I imagine but I hope that it works just as fine in singleplayer so that I can just skip co-op altogether.
Im worried about this but im not going to assume the game is forever dead because of it.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I'm not really sure it would work well over a totally dedicated SP experience. I hope this doesn't mean you have a friend with you all the time in SP to justify the co-op.
What if the co=op campaign is separate from the Single Player?

I never really got the argument that having a co-operative mode in games ruins the single player experience. This sounds really awesome but they would have to put in some sort of betrayal factor (such as in day-z). Crawling through the metro stations would be all the more intense with the possibility that your buddy could put a bullet in your head and make off with your baked beans.

It's better than trying to compete with CoD and Gears by forcing competitive multi-player into everything... competitive multi-player which gets abandoned after a month because everyone has gone back to CoD or Gears.

OT: Never played Metro, but it did always look interesting to me. I've long held the believe that co-op is infinitely more fun than competitive multi-player, and sometimes games that are ostensibly supposed to be survival-horror can be turned into amusing comedy-horror romps when you're playing with a buddy.

But if it's just random co-op that pairs you with whatever other guy happens to be online at the time, then god help us all.

If it's separate to the single player and done well not just add an extra gun that soaks up ammo and health packs then yeah I could dig it.
When I see more I'll make my decision.
Great now I've goto go finish metro 2033 I loved it but never finished it.
