A Hermit's Cave
Judi Dench = Best Bond Girl EVAR!!

Sorry folks, had to be done! -_-

Welcome to Scotland!

Anyway, silliness aside, anyone else watched it yet? Or am I the only Brit enough of a jerk to start gabbing about it?

Don't know about the rest of you, but I found it a lot more fun than a lot of other Bond films (*prepares flame-shield just in case*) and it was still very exhilirating when you found out what the antagonist's main motivations were. That said, what a performance by Javier Bardem, absolute scene stealer. It was, however, rather disjointed in retrospect, though I'd be willing to watch the second half of it repeatedly, it was a good ride.

Oh, and Ralph Fiennes was suitably snobby with a practical side...

I can't wait to see it, but being in North America, the very earliest I'll get to see it is the 7th, and that's only if I get an invite to the advance screening (or I just go to that anyway, invitation or not).

If I don't go to it, I'll wait until the Friday, the 9th, I believe.

Definitely looking forward to it. I love Craig's Bond.

I was thinking about it on the way home, and while it was critically well received (for the most part), I think it'll split the fanbase because it's so inherently different from previous outings. I personally thought it was brilliant, in set-pieces, dialogue & interaction (though one relationship, it's easy to realise who, fell a tad flat, so I conveninently forgot it while viewing), but.... *that* part of it (which will remain unspecified) makes it a fair bit divergent from what we've come to expect from most Bond films.

Definitely Craig's best, and a ma-hoo-sive step up in general (well, apart from not taking it seriously and being in it just to have fun, don't really think Piers was that good...)

...

-_-

Oh, and the soundtrack... couldn't help but think of Assassin's Creed II: Revelations during the pre-credits scenes...

Will see it sometime within the next few days. Can't wait. Casino Royale was possibly the best ever bond film, but Quantum of Solace was an tidal wave of meh. What I've seen of Skyfall so far looks like Bond back to his best.

Not out in Canada yet. However, I am a big fan of Naomi Harris ever since I saw 28 Days Later, so I'll definitely be checking it out.

I'm seeing it on Sunday!! I f*cking love James Bond! I'm a MASSIVE fan of Bond films, games, books, anything to do with James Bond. I must have seen each film at least 20 times over, I just wish I could of got to a midnight screening of Skyfall, it looks amazing. Is there any references to past films? I hope there is and I'd understand them however obscure, but my friend (who hasn't seen a single Bond film and has repeatedly called the film Skyrim) insisted on coming along. Will a casual fan like him be happy with the film?

I looked it up afterwards and she played Tia Dalma, good grief that was surprising...

It comes out a day after my birthday! I'm definitely seeing it that day, perhaps even midnight showing! I've been very psyched to see it ever since I started reading up on it. Adele's Skyfall also boosted my desires. ;D
The song, once you get around the use of the word 'Skyfall' is actually pretty good, and after the opening credits, boy does a penny drop loudly when you get what it all means...

Regarding the references, yes, there are quite a few, and they're really well alluded to by the dialogue that has you anticipating them, one of which explains my first spoiler!

For the casual viewer, it'd be a superior action flick with a more thoughtful than expected core character dynamic.

Lots of references to past films. Some go back to the Connery films, but they also included a few Casino Royale references.

I didn't notice that it existed until it came out, so I haven't got into any hype and don't know much about it. But I'll probably see it eventually.

Loved it, best Bond film since Goldeneye!

They killed Judi Dench! I cannot believe they did that, that was utterly horrible of them. I was hoping for a happy retirement with Mr Kincaid.

Also, Silva's face when he takes out the prosthetic, dear God nightmares.

Ralph Fiennes is M! It would seem that M has to be an institution of british acting to even be considered. I would have wanted Robert Carlisle instead, that would have been hilarious. Fiennes and Craig shooting up a parliamentary inquiry was awesome though.

Best one liner: What do you do for a living again?

I saw it yesterday...and Holy Hell was it good.

Kinda like a violent Home Alone at one point.

But a great way to bring in a new M, and Moneypenny, and Q.

When everybody was saying it was the best yet I didn't expect it to be, but frack it really was the best yet.

And Javier Bardem was a brilliant villain.

Spoiler alert. I don't know who'd come into this thread who hasn't watched the movie and is going to but, my post has some minor spoilers in them (according to me) so if you don't want those, then don't read this post.

Saw it first day it arrived here in Finland (2 days ago) and I found it very VERY good.
Good movie, good characters: Q, new M, I like Craig as Bond, Moneypenny and absolutely fantastic badguy and housekeeper :D
Well spent 2.5 hours from my part.
Defineatly in the top of my Bond movies and also all the "jokes" and easter eggs to the older movies :)
Q had loads of great one liners :p

Me too! November 8th is the best birthday to have if you love James Bond. Every time a Bond movie comes out, it is near my birthday, it seems. My father and I are going on opening day because he and I are the only members of the family who live around here who love James Bond. I think it is going to be awesome!

Hmm, what's going on in this threa- Holy shit spoilers everywhere, yeah I'm bailing.

It comes out on the 31st here, and I have no knowledge about anything of what it's about other than that it's a 007 movie. My friends are raring to go though, so hopefully I'm in for an awesome experience :D

Was amazing. Found the second half to be superior, but the entire film was great.
I have a love for new vs. old themes though.

Comes out in Peru 1st November, can´t wait, although will have to leave it a few days until the cinema isn´t so full, nothing ruins a film like watching it in a room full of peruvians (talking, answering phones they haven´t turned off, bringing babies into the cinema!)

Also, checking the release dates, why is the US and Canada on 9th Nov, Australia and New Zealand on the 26th? Even the majority of Africa has it before then.

Now I get to sit with my dad and go on a nostalgia trip about the days we watched Bond movies late into the night. We get to see it in IMAX too, so I'm stoked. ;-]
