Today, as the title says, i am starting my diet.
Oh, and i'm using some product called Celebrity slim to help me on my way.
So, how many of you have been on a diet, did you use any slimming products? Do you have any advice?
What's you're opinion on Diets and Slimming products?

If you want to know more about my diet thingy, just ask :p

Slimming products? Most of the time they seem to be rather useless and don't really work
Dieting on the other hand can work but it needs a lot of motivation, and exercise.

WHile I wish you success on the dieting, that in itself won't have that much effect alone. You've also got to exercise. I'd think that 2-3 hours of cardio every week will get you and then keep you in shape.

That's what i'm doing.
Walking to the gym, spending about 45 minutes there then walking back.
Do this about 2-3 times a week, sometimes more.

My advice is to eat larger amounts of healthy foods to diminish the need for unhealthy stuff, Always have a bottle of water next to you. Exercise is vital, get something to motivate you for it. A dog is a good way too get out and get a good amount of exercise. Motivation is key

If you ask me I'm against a diet, choose a healthier lifestyle that you can keep up.

It's not so much what you eat, as how much you eat. You could eat Twinkies and multivitamins, watch your total calorie intake, work out a bit, and still lose weight.

Yeah, motivation. Gotta be willing to stick with it. Good luck.

I said the larger amounts because you can get your metabolism to work faster that way, if you eat smaller amounts your metabolism will go down. Meaning that as soon as you stop dieting, you'll gain weight twice as fast.

Are you actually medically overweight at the moment? If not, then I think a diet is a horrible idea that far too many perfectly thin/normal people make themselves very ill over. If so, I still think it's probably a bad idea. Just do some exercise when possible (by that I just mean walk instead of drive everywhere, or something like that) and you'll have the same effect and other more beneficial ones than losing weight. Eating healthier is fine, but eating less or using those kinds of diet products is almost always a bad idea in my opinion.

No argument here, I just meant for the part before I quoted you to be directed at OP, then the bottom part to just agree with your emphasis on motivation.

It's actually if you eat little and often your metabolism will increase as your body recognises that you are in a food rich environment and doesn't need to store fat. A few large meals, even if its the same calorie intake, will put on more fat as your body thinks that the next gap between meals could be a big one.

But as everyone else said, diets are rubbish. If you change your eating habits it has to be for the rest of your life. Good Luck!

Yeah, then OK I don't think you should go on a diet at all. You shouldn't be worrying about your weight unless it's a serious medical condition. Far too many people around your age become obsessed over their weight and appearance, and end up harming themselves far more than they ever help themselves.

If you're really sure you have to lose some weight (which I don't think you do), then just walk to places a little more often instead of using the car. Don't make yourself ill with slimming products and malnutrition, it won't improve your appearance and even if it did, it still wouldn't be worth it. Slimmer does not mean more healthy, or more attractive. I'll bet you look perfectly fine anyway, being self conscious is something pretty much every teen goes through, so I've seen lots of people beat themselves up over their appearance, even when there is no issue.

The thing is, although i'm not really fat yet, i know i need to change my eating habits, and i'm not planning on using the dieting products for long, they are just there to give me a boost. After which i should be eating more healthily and exercising more regulary.
But i know what you mean.

currently cutting fat, eating low carb and high protein (no carbs in the evening) and using carnitine to increase fat burn during workouts and compensate for the lack of carbs to burn

I haven't known my own weight since I was 8. :D

Anyway, I wish you luck. Just try not to get too obssessed. I have a step-brother who's obssessed with going to the gym. It's OK to have some muscles, but this is getting ridiculous. He's not even overweight. If anything, he's underweight. He needs more fat on him. There's nothing wrong with a bit of fat. In fact it's quite healthy. /tangent.

Good luck again.

Well, I'd recommend just skipping straight to the healthy eating and exercise part myself, but what you do is up to you. Just please make sure you're actually improving your health rather than damaging it, and don't ever take your diet or your appearance too seriously, or let it make you unhappy. As I've said, far too many people become extremely sad and extremely ill through trying to make themselves thinner, make sure you don't become one of them. There's nothing wrong with being nearly-overweight (or even a little overweight), it only becomes an issue if it's likely to cause medical problems.

Heh. i don't give a shit about my appearance, i'm all to happy to go out with scruffy hair and yesterday's hoodie (within reason).
But thank you for you're concern.
