I love Bioshock.

If you know anything about me, its that 1. I'm amazing, 2. I think Bioshock is the best game ever, and 3. Boy howdy am I pessimistic.

And when Bioshock remastered was announced, I'll be honest, I didn't expect much of it. Never played it on console, only PC. So my memories are crisp, neat, and well-controlled.
But i was looking- nay, begging, for a reason to play it again.

And then I played this new version. Now i'll say I appreciate the effort. I appreciate people going back and sharpening details and shit.
And so, with whiskey in hand, I started the Remastered version and completed just past Medical, and the death of Steinmen.

I first started to have worries when I hacked the turrets in Medical, and it doesn't attack the enemies. Or, more accurately, it does, but after they've attack me, not I attack them, and always with accuracy that would make a blind quadriplegic proud. I swear I was almost killed more times by the fist sentry than any enemy.
Then I was in the Funeral Room, where you're walking through a little bit of water, the lights go out, a corpse floats by you, and lights turn on so you see the shadow of a man.
Except there was no shadow.
Then I meet Cameras, and their red wave detection field is gone.
Then I get to the cyro rooms that are supposed to fill with cyro gas. Except they don't, and I'm left staring at a medical table that literally just pops a corpse onto it instead of having one appear in the fog. THEN when I get an audiotape, a tiny barely enough to register fog appears, turn around, hear Hahaha, but...no doctor. No one to attack me.
Then I get to a Storage Room and this is what I find:

Then I reach the hallway to Steinmen, and the turret can't be hacked. No matter the lightning, the press X to hack never shows up.

The surgeon dies instantly to a lightning bolt and shotgun to the face - much easier than I remember.
Get some Adam from a Little Sister and...

Yup, couldn't move, she's not moving, can't jump. Was like this until I saved, closed the game, and restarted and she was in a different place.

Kill the Big Daddy, and its much easier than I remember.

now I'm in Neptune's Bounty, and I'm supposed to get my fist look at the new splicers. Roses, creepy voice, disturbing shadow and..

Fuck you Bioshock! You've taken away 50% of all the fear and atmosphere for barely worth mentioning graphical improvements.

As it is, as a 10000000000000000000% free game I'm willing to play it. But even at $.50, I'd never pay for it.
This feels like the Silent Hill HD collection where it turns out its an Alpha build, because they lost the completed copy, and then just re-released it expecting you, I, Great Aunt Nanners, Jim, Mark, Tyraneous, and literally ever single soul to never know the difference.

Oh, man, that's depressing. I could never get into Bioshock myself, but I get why people love it. Comparing it to Silent Hill HD... that hurts. The original didn't even need any graphical improvements. It was one of the most beautiful games ever made already. The only competitors were FF13 (which sucked as an actual game) and Bioshocks own sequel, Infinite.

If it makes you feel better, when I did the photo quest line, I just took a picture of a bunch of butts. It was pretty funny to see the mad artist talk about how beautiful his mosaic of butts was.

The one thing I know about you first is you're a Zootopia fan. I kind of think that is more apparent than you loving Bioshock.

Also most of the issues you had are bugs, cause they havent happened for me. Turrets attack enemies I attack, cameras have red fields, and nothing that should be hackable isnt.

I really dont know what is causing some people to have so few bugs, while others are having a million a second. Ive only had minor graphical bugs with water in one area.

And Brony judging by his achievements and his recommendation of it to me in my Salty thread.

Also Silentpony, go play System Shock 1 and 2. Bioshock on a gameplay level is inferior in everyway:p

Sorry you're having a bad experience man. I was looking forward to the Collection myself but I haven't gotten around to installing it. I've heard a lot of horror stories about crashes, performance, and shoddy coding. I was thinking of giving it a few weeks to cook and either patches or workaround to mature.

They on Steam or GOG?
Also I'm still convinced you need to watch an episode once a week.

Ah good ol' Bioschlock. A remaster, eh? Unfortunately, I could never really get into those games. I love System Shock 2, though.

And here is the thing....I did watch MLP:FiM. Right when the show was at its peak in around Season 2-3 I think.

I had to see what all the hullabaloo is about where I watched the documentary, and I recognize that its a good kids show and yes the yellow one with pink hair is so cute I want to hug her, but goddamn you Bronies made it so overrated its insane and heck I was looking fandom stuff like fanfics of the show than actually watching it (only seen a handful of episodes) and you guys have made quite the interesting fics, some even having nothing to do with the freakin Ponies.

But again the ridiculous popularity of this show, I never seen anyone make a convetion for Powerpuff Girls and I was mad in love with that show as a kid. And even than I still think classic Cartoon Network and Nickalodeon are better than MLP.

Now I completely stopped watching it the show and don't care for it anymore, I don't even know what is going on in the show right now after that Movie special where the ponies turn humans.

While its fair to say bronies can and frequently do go overboard, theyre hardly alone. Trekkies, Potter fans, Star Wars geeks and for fucks sake man, your Avatar is from Lord of the Rings! Those fans get pretty insane. Renaissance Fairs are insane, especially the dudes and dudettes dressed as ringwraiths.
And in my defense, I don't identify as a 'brony'. Never been to a convention, never looked at the porn, never been to a meetup, have no merchandise. I'm just a dude who likes to watch the show. Its clever and reminds me of Dexter's Lab or the Real Adventures of Johnny Quest.

Also back to topic, been playing a little more and yeah, alot of the jump scares and atmosphere have been removed from Bioshock. And I know its not all glitches, because actual enemies and scripted events aren't triggering.

First off I don't how to upload my own Avatar in this site so I choose the preset ones, so out of the ones I like the image of Aragorn. If I had the ability to change it I would have put an image of Michael de Santa from GTA 5.

But back on point:

Sorry for the weird end of the last post, my internet left as I was writing.

Anyway let me tell a personal story and how it connects to what I think of bronies.

When I was child at around 1999-2000, I was riding on the hypetrain that was Gen 1 Pokemon. Especially the TV show.

One day the show was airing a perticular episode, this was the episode that introduced Jigglypuff and in that episode when she sings and as a Kid I was entranced by the singing and even cried because it was beautiful sounding I was in love with Jigglypuff to the point where I begged my mom to buy basically a plush doll of her, which she did and I was there during the purchase. Of course in the end I completely grew out of that but still in the end I now look back on that moment with utter shame and humilation of myself, a 7-10 year old boy who should be enjoying stuff like Dragon Ball Z and Transformers.....cried for a Jigglypugg song and bought a doll of it.

And I say this because when I look at the Bronies, I am reminded of that andthese Bronies are going through the samething I went through as a kid and the fact that they are grown men makes it even worse, I swear to you in 10-20 years they are gonna look back on that time of their lives in utter shame and humiliation. And its already started and even worse in this era of Youtube internet social media:

Lucky you. Each time I tried to play it, the game would crash shorty after I gain controls to grab the radio when first entering Rapture after the plane crash.

Honestly it seems like you're the lucky one. Like I said earlier, it reminds me of the Silent Hill HD collection. The fog is gone.
