Friday I'm in Love, by the Cure.
Had that song in my head all week before finding out that someone really like me. I asked them out on that Friday, ended up being my first girl friend. We've mutually broken up, but it still means a lot to me.

Chop suey! by system of a down.

Why? Because it was the first official music video I have ever seen and got me hooked to system forever.

One of mine is Brimstone Gate by Naglfar, because it's about a guy who detests the world he lives in and wants to escape to anywhere else (even Hell) through sorcerous means.

I don't feel like that all the time but it's the perfect track for when I do.

The future soon by Jonathan coulton, It gives me a reason to live another day and not to worry about the persent as much. I know its a joke sound but it really hits home for me and I was rooting for the guy in the song the whole time.

Stay by Poets of the Fall, I just like the way that song makes me feel with it's lyrics and smooth guitar, that's why I'm listening to it right now :)

November Rain by GNR, lyrics are self explanatory. There are many many others but that's the first that comes to mind.

there's way too many for me to name here. but i'll give you two..
Into Eternity by Into Eternity, this song is off their first album, called Into Eternity ((gotta love it when people see the triple name))

to me this song is about a man on the edge of death, and he's terrified. the chorus is:

and then he stared into the sky, feeding his fright denying...feeling the pain, hear the screaming "i don't wanna die, don't wanna die"

this is a song that helped me realize what i was afraid of, and helped me figure, that i didn't want to lay down and die. it helped pull me out of my most recent really bad depression.

the other song, is Suspension of Disbelief by Into Eternity, on the album The Scattering of Ashes. the chorus, yet again, is:

"And I fall into the ocean, will you be there to rescue me. As I start to take on water...Drowning me"

and this song, helped me realize who my true friends were awhile back, when i needed them most.

both of these songs have changed me for the better, and made me a stronger person both mentally and emotionally.

Tears for Fears - Everybody wants to rule the world.

It just seems... Appropriate for me.

I'm not big on looking too deeply into songs (because if I was I'd probably find less than I could possibly imagine), but it seems slightly melancholy yet upbeat, with a message that isn't highly political (at least in the regular sense of the word) and yet seems important.

I guess you could say it's an interesting juxtaposition.

Free Will by Rush

"You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill.
I will choose a path that's clear- I will choose Free Will."

Hero of War - Rise Against.

If you've not heard it then I seriously recommend it. It's hard to listen to it and NOT feel something shift inside.

"All in the Waiting" by Buckethead is this pretty little acoustic/clean electric piece that's quite melancholy but hopeful at the same time. It really feels the way I felt as I was recovering from a depression some years ago.

A more uplifting/powerful tune that always makes me feel good is "Megalodon" off Mastodon's Leviathan album. The song starts with this neat arpeggio riff and then there's this random southern rock lick followed by what I would say is one of the most powerful blasts of metal I've heard in a long time.

I couldn't pick just one, so here are a few that I can think of right now:
1) Shoot from the Hip by A Change of Pace
2) Bullets by Creed
3) Dare by Gorillaz
4) One More Time by Daft Punk
5) All songs by Spitshine (local Oregon rap group)
The list goes on and on.

Islands in the Sun by Weezer. It's the song my friends and I listen to before we start a big trip.
