So today Sonic Boom premiered in the early morning (7:30 am) on Cartoon Network. So I was wondering, if you saw it what did you think of it? Did you like it or did you hate it and wish for it to never exist?

The show in itself is set up like how most cartoon shows are, 2 10-15 minute cartoons in a half hour slot.

In my opinion after seeing it, I rather enjoyed it. Some of the jokes made me laugh, and I loved the constant banter between Eggman and Sonic. More so on Eggman's part thanks to Mike Pollock. Some of the jokes fell a bit flat, but I also know it's supposed to be a kids show. I think I'll actually watch this series, since the first episodes I found to be good.

The only thing I'm not a big fan of is Cubot's voice. I mean he's still voiced by Wally Wingert, but it just feels like his performance is vastly different from what it was in Sonic Colors and Sonic Lost World. Kirk Thorton's performance as Orbot also sounded a bit different as well, but that just may be me hearing things.

I love this show!

The jokes were frickin' hilarious, and the animation was really good, too. Eggman was hilarious.

I just saw it this morning and it was a lot more entertaining than I thought. At first I believed I would like it because of my Sonic Fan bias but I actually laughed out loud at a lot of parts, something very few television shows have me do. The show from what I saw takes some cues from the old Adventrues of Sonic the Hedgehog with the pure saturday morning comedy with hints of action which is balanced pretty well I think. My favorite bits were anything with Eggman who basically stole the show in each episode with his more casualness towards ending Sonic and friends.

The first episodes of the show gave me high hopes for the Sonic Boom sub-series Sega doing and hopefully the quality of action and writing stays strong with the future episodes and won't crash and burn like people are saying. Now to see how the games will bring the same boom.

I saw it online and wow.. it sucked big time.. and here's why.. while the CGI is quite good for a kids saturday morning cartoon show budget, Not much else worked.. No need to point out the horrible character design for Knuckles since everyone knows it terrible, but the major problems with the show is the story(s). I'm assuming the goal of this new series and (and tie in videogame) is to reintroduce the characters for a new generation that's growing up now and didn't see the original fantastic Sonic SatAM cartoon of the 90's, which in it'self necessarily a bad or unreasonable idea since kids today have probably never heard of that show. Problem is, the fist episode (which is divided into 2 separate stories for some reason) has so many things that don't fit with the the established continuity comics or games(or cartoons). Sonic would never fire Tails because he got hurt, he be upset his friend got hurt and maybe suggest he take a break for a while, but never fire him.. besides Tails isn't hired to help sonic, they're best friends. Then there's the sidekick tryout thing with Doctor Robtnik.. Doesn't matter the circumstances, Sonic would never , not all the chili dogs in the world would he ever let Doctor Robotnik try out to be his side kick.. thought if your willing to accept that might as well have Batman give Joker a tour of the Batcave while the power rangers are playing cards with Lord Zed,the Ninja Turtles eat pizza with Shredder and the Avatar Aang is renting a room to Fire Lord Ozai... oh and speaking of renting a room.. Sonic would never let Robotik crash at his house for any reason either.

Oh and remember how I said it wasn't a bad idea to reintroduce Sonic and his allies and enemies?.. well the first episode forgot to reintroduce them.. 4 of the 5 characters are shown but it's most about Sonic, Tails and Robotnik,.. Amy is only briefly shown and personality changed schizophrenic, hyper character and then forgot about, and the steroids using Knuckles is shown to be kind of dumb.. the characters aren't introduced or forming a team to fight Robotnik.. Amy and Knuckles seem to be side characters not main.. Maybe they're assuming everyone one will play the tie in game, but that's a lot of assuming.. I guarantee that not everyone that watches the show will play the game first(if they ever play it at all) so having brief 11 minute episodes with dumb unbelievable plots that more resemble the hated Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon then anything else is a bad move..

Oh and the comedy um,.. it's mostly dumb and unfunny.. maybe preschoolers or people with short attention spans who don't know real comedy will enjoy it briefly.. But over all.. just a bad cartoon.. then again, this is the Sonic franchise. It's more known for failures these days anyways so, I guess the series is consistent with that at least.

It's comedy. The fact that Sonic accepts Robotnik as a candidate is meant to be funny, not serious characterization.

Wait, does sonic even have enough of an established character to say he would or wouldn't do something? As I understand his personality changes based on the game or show. The only consistent aspect of it is him trying to be cool.

Also, when you critique something, try not to be an nasty about it. It makes you come off as someone whose opinion doesn't matter because at best, they are just a hater.

Humor's spotty, but the show is overall amusing. It's got a spot in my DVR recordings for now. I'd like to see how it pans out.

I'm already used to the character designs but I don't like them.

I caught the first 11-minute episode. I'll reserve judgement, but I quite enjoyed Eggman. It's clear that this is a less serious take on the subject matter, and as long as it's less cartoony than Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and less '06ish than Sonic X, I think we'll have a winner here. (Even if the Knuckles redesign is... sub-optimal. It seems like they wanted Vector, but had to use Knuckles because he's a bigger part of the universe. I'm not sure if the viewing experience will be improved if I pretend he's a big green crocodile man, but I'll give it a shot.)

whaaaaaaaaaat I missed the premiere?!

That's what I get for being an online only person I suppose.

It seems based on the users who did see it it wasn't all that bad all things considered. I feel it will be an average to okay show to line up CN's airings.

And like somenone else in this thread said- as long as it's not Disney Sonic levels of stupid, and "try hard" levels of Sonic X we will be solid.

I do...wish though that another Sonic cartoon will come about the likes of satAM. I mean, really now SEGA, the fact that the comic continuation of it lasted this long should tell you something that it was a quality show with a quality premise. (let's ignore the whole Ken Sanders fiasco though.)

It's not an utter disaster? I'll give it a go then.

Edit: I'll be honest, I'm surprised. It's better than I thought it would be.
Seems like they're trying to inject a lot of Ice King into Eggman, which works pretty well. If anyone is curious the episodes are just on Youtube.

You know, I would have missed the premiere if it wasn't for my constant checking/scheduling off my DVR... Seriously, CN, the first ad I saw for this show on TV was AFTER the second 11-minute [sub-]episode! Da fuck?

Anyway, I really enjoyed the premiere for what it was... Eggman, so far, is my favorite character on the comedic aspect by far... Sure, some of it was a hit-or-miss especially between the comedy already shown in the online previews and the comedy shown in the premiere, but overall I can't wait for the next set of premiere episodes...

Well be lucky you weren't watching it on TV. The premiere was at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday. I guess the Pokemon Marathon that also premiered the first movie had something to do about it. Which I think is dumb. They should have scheduled the show to start in the evening so then more people could watch it, then switch it to the Saturday morning thing. They did it for Ben 10: Omniverse, so why not Sonic Boom?

I assume they're showing Sonic Boom at 7:30 in the mourning on Saturdays is to "harken back" to a simpler time of "Saturday Mourning Cartoons" or something like that... Then, once they have enough episode premieres under their belt, "Hello evening timeslot"!

I don't know what will be more entertaining, the show itself, or the implosion of fans declaring it the next worst thing to happen to the series.

Based on the two episodes that are out so far, it seems like a pretty solid show. It's pretty funny, and doesn't take itself too seriously, as Sonic has a history of doing.

All told though, "Evil ham" really got me. 10/10 on that one.

Well that'll be for the game. My friend's and I were streaming it yesterday, the Wii U version, and by god does it look and feel unfinished to it's core. Not to mention the supposed glitch where Sonic falls through the floor. :p

At least the show is funny. XD

Thank you. I needed that. XD
What happened to us last night though was my friend went back to a previous area that he already had the Crystal for, and literally everything reset which means the entire area is scripted, despite there being a sidequest there that you can choose to go back for. This resulted in my friend having to get the same Crystal twice and every single cutscene replaying. The area it was in was the bottom video's area.

I think the worst part about the game though is that death is not punished in the slightest. In levels you can die anywhere you want and instantly respawn as if nothing happened, retaining your current position and only losing a little bit of junk. In boss fights it does checkpoint, but a lot of the bosses are pathetically easy. Cutscene transitions are odd too if they are even there at all.
