Ok Just because I'm bored. But have you had your first love yet? Do you think that you ever really get over them if it ends? And If so do you think it's possible to remain just friends?

Personally I've had my first love and it ended 6 years ago. We are friends but find it hard to not let any feelings get in the way of staying just friends.

Well my first boyfriend lasted a week, so I wouldn't say he was my first love. My first serious relationship lasted two years when I was 15 and I still torment myself over why I gave him so much of my time. I suppose I have a fair bit to thank him for though, I'm sure things would be different if it weren't for him.
I got over him, but it took him absolutely ages to forget about me. [sub]I'm just so amazing y'see.[/sub]
We're not friends any more, he tried not so long ago when he broke up with his girlfriend but I said I think it would be best if we just left each other alone.
If I saw him now, I'd feel nothing. I suppose it wasn't really love, not like I've experienced now.
My next relationship lasted nearly three years and I honestly think he's always going to be a part of me that's hard to forget.

Yep. 20 years ago, actually.

Yes, although I suppose it depends. Beware of "love at first sight". That's pheromones fucking with you, and you'll be totally blinded to their personality flaws and still find yourself pining for them years later and have no idea why.

Most of the time yes, as long as the breakup wasn't horribly acrimonious.

I had sudden daydreams of beating the living daylights out of the OP once I read the thread title (substituted in random faceless person)... sorry, not your fault...

...

*sigh* Yes, I've had my first love... and it did not end well... I still visit her grave every so often and struggle not to cry... even more now that I've got no-one to accompany me...

My little mexican sweet heart Dulce :3. Only girl I had any feelings for in high school. She was a grade lower than me and had super over protective parents but she would lie and say she'd go out with friends and i'd pick her up and we'd go and.. uh well you can guess that ;).

Then towards graduation her parents found out, locked her down even more and didn't let her out at all. So I graduated and never saw her again. Still texted her but.. just not the same as being with her.

Then her parents found out she was texting a college guy, and when they found out it was me they took her phone and then changed her number. Years later, still haven't talked to her and have no clue how to contact her as she doesn't have a facebook and I doubt her parents would tell me where she is if I swung by their place and said "Oh hey I was the dude shagging your daughter, can I get her new digits?"

I had met my first love when I was in college and we were going out for about 2 years, but it ended badly. I learned that he was cheating on me during the last six months, and the way I found out was that the girl he was cheating on me was freaking out thinking she was pregnant. Yeah...fun times.

That was about 3-4 years ago and I feel that things have gone far better for me fairly quickly after everything was said and done. I do look forward to meeting someone who will truly love me, but until then I'll just keep hauling ass with my life. :p

My first love was many, many years ago.

As with most things of youth it didn't last very long though.

Well it's hard to tell what proper love is but since I still remember her to this day it was probably quite close.
Ya you get over it you just never really forget, it is a strange burden to bear.

Especially for me because I met her yeas later and found the girl I loved never existed, I fell in love with the idea of a girl but the actual person was not her, all the great personality traits I attributed to her was just my imagination putting together the girl I wanted.
But it was quite the learning experience.

And staying friends... boy is that a horrible idea, yes you can be friends once you set your feeling aside, but when can you really do that.

Dammit this is the second thread about love. It just reminds me about how shallow and empty my life is.

Never really anytime, I liked someone and we did end up going out but it felt hollow and didnt feel right, she broke it off and I was upset but it was alright after a few days, looking back it would have never worked we had nothing in common apart from the people we hung out with.

First proper love or first teenage "OMG we like totally made out and love each other and stuff" love?
Ha!! Ha ha!! I know right? I had... Five. Five different "OMG we like totally made out and love each other and stuff" teenage relationships. I was a hopeless romantic when I was younger.

I grew up when I hit 16. Just before I turned 17 I met a wonderful woman, and actually fell in love with her.

I am now her husband. Go figure.

There are a number of loves that could have been the first for me. First of those was in fourth grade, I cried when we went to different schools after that. After that, between fifth and sixth grade I think, came the next one. But I was over her by the time she confessed to liking me, too. The third one then, grades 7 to 10, was what I would call my first love I guess, but really all that differentiated it from the other ones was that it lasted so long, and for a long while after I last saw her.

I am over all of those. Never saw them again, don't need to. That last one though, probably defined what I am looking for in a woman now.

*edit* it would also be super creepy if I wasn't over them

I first fell in love when I was 15. We were friends but were not really even too close. Nothing ever happened because she didn't feel the same way. While I had some difficulty at the time coping in the end I was fine with it because well nothing I can do to change that. Looking back on it its hard to say if the feeling goes away because I do still care about her and probably always will but its in a different way.

Overall was a good learning experience is the best way to sum it up.

I don't really count awkwardly rounding 3rd on a couch and not really doing a whole lot else to be proper love, but it was pretty fun at least.

So no, I don't really think I've had a real 'first love' yet.
