Soundtrack suggestions for games that have no music of their own?

Hiya, guys!

I'm planning to binge on some adventure games from the late 80s - early 90s, namely from Sierra. As it happens, their early titles (for example, King's Quest 1-4) had no music aside from occasional PC Speaker ear torture. This didn't bother me when I played them back in the day, but as I was thinking about the upcoming maraphon, a thought crossed my mind: why not give these games a proper soundtrack, now that all the music in the world is just a click away?

I know there are people here who host tabletop roleplaying sessions and have entire music playlists at hand, used to create the mood according to the theme: horror, fantasy, mystical etc. This is what I'm talking about. Can you suggest some bands or artists whose music would be suitable for filling the sound void in a slow-paced adventure game?

The themes in question are:
King's Quest - magic, fantasy, fairy tales, comedy
Space Quest - Sci-Fi, adventures on distant planets, mischievous and fun
Police Quest - hmm, this one's a bit tricky. Something that would sound appropriate for a serious detective story, but not too heavy or moody
Leisure Suit Larry - I think some smooth jazz would do nicely, but if you have other ideas for a sleazy game about getting laid - go ahead and tell me

Thanks in advance, guys. Any help would be very much welcome.
