I would highly recommend it. I just finished the game and, if you were like me, you were under the impression that it was just going to be a cookie cutter, boring, bland, brown cover based shooter. Well, I was wrong. The game actually has an interesting story that is both messed up and compelling. No worries, I wont spoil the ending.

What's that you say? A modern shooter that you play for single player? MADNESS!

I know right? I haven't had a decent single player game from a shooter in ages. It's about 6 hours long, depending on difficulty. Not only that, it looks good as in the style fits the aesthetic Screenshots from my steam profile

This has compelled me to do a user review on it, since I have a whole week off work and nothing to do, so stay tuned for that.

Anyone else have an opinion on the game? I would like to here it as well as interpretations on the ending, but let's keep it spoiler free. Use spoiler tags please.

Looking at your screenshots, it seems the game has a lot of nice visuals with a fairly diverse color palette. I like that.

I give it points for effort, but I don't think it accomplished what it was trying to do.

Also, it needed to provide a bit more background to the plot.

Also also, the swearing got a bit ridiculous. Yes, real people swear. Yes, some swear a a lot. Yes, real people swear even more when stressed. But when your dialogue has a fuck in every sentence you're just trying too hard.

I keep hearing about this, and not in the "yawn, another freaking CoD-wannabe" way. I'm still kind of over shooters in general, military-themed or otherwise, unless there's something special about them. I think Total Biscuit liked it, though. Maybe I'll give it a look when I have money again.

I played it.

T'was a wonderful experience.

Something I did want were a bit more choice. I know it depicted a soldier spiralling into madness ... I still wanted a choice where a faced my fears and got done with them.

The ending, while engaging, was a bit anticlimatic for me.

And a bit more background story.

Like what happened in Kabul? Or did I miss information that's stored in the intel? I didn't get all of them. Like 80%.

Still recommend it. :)

I haven't played it but I have heard almost nothing but praise to it's storyline, though I've also heard quite a few people saying it doesn't quite hit the mark but that it's still quite interesting, I would definitely try it if I had something to play it on, but alas I cannot, so I'll just try it whenever it is I get something that can run it, but considering how much stuff I have missed in around half a decade of games it's most likely not going to be high priority.

The demo didn't really impress me. It wasn't bad, it just didn't seem like a game i'd pay full price for?

Is it worth trying out?

lol Captcha: You first

okay then.

I actually enjoyed the demo, so I'm planning on picking up the game itself sometime soon.

I'm enjoying it, but I wish the gameplay was as interesting as the story.

Demo didn't impress me either, but I got it from Amazon for 25 dollars and figured what the hell. Money definitely well spent. I think it's still 25 right now, but you need to have a US address.

I just ordered Spec Ops and Future Soldier from my usual retailer although I've been playing Max Payne 3 too. One can never have enough shooter games ;) I often end up kicked out of the multiplayer as my network connection sucks big deal but I can't get a better one to this flat, I hope to move out soon. I think Max Payne 3 was graphically a true masterpiece and a good game in terms of gameplay too so that motivated me to get the 2 other titles I mentioned. It's nice to know that the original poster found the game worth the time, my money won't go to waste then either. I can't really add anything more here that would make any valid points or opinions before I've actually tried the game. Happy playing everybody and enjoy the summer :)

A US address? Considering my username, I don't think that is much of a problem.

You should see the PC version with all the settings cranked, assuming that's not the version you're already playing.

I got tired of all the swearing as well. I think it's a problem all over the place these days. Some people seem to think that adding swears makes things more mature.

Given how there are so many non American users on this site, I just felt the need to specify. Also I was on a smart phone when I posted that so I didn't make the effort to actually check your nationality first.

Anyway, Amazon, get it. Digital download though, you get the steam key.

I'm liking it so far I guess. I'm not a fan of them yelling in my ear every five seconds to go somewhere when I'm scavenging for ammo, although that happens in most games. Liking the story though.

White phospherus and the hanging of Lugo were my favorite parts so far.

Either you have the most well-behaved Army friends in existence or no Army friends at all, for all mine, fuck is the go-to word.

Need a noun? "Fuck(ers)"
Verb/Adjective? "Fucking"
"Aw man, I know I don't narrate commas and pauses, but I'm feeling low on fucks said, so I'll use 'Fuckin''!"

Spec Ops' dialogue was pretty much accurate, as far as fucks are concerned. Real people swear, but Many, many Army people swear a metric fuckton.
