Title pretty much sums it up. Up until the Mass Effect 3 reveal things were going pretty good, with the exception of the opening (way to cater to the lowest common denominator, Spike). Then Kratos and the guy from CoD stepped in, and then NPH won an award (just thinking about that makes me want to drop a crate full of puppies and babies off of a cliff), that CoD guy won an award, pretty much for existing at all, Kratos got way too much time on screen, that one girl made me cringe when she attempted to say "superheroes," and NPH was hosting, when Olivia Munn was standing right there. Seriously? How about next time we get some who actually, I don't know, knows what they're talking about? I don't care if NPH plays games, have someone who does it for a living host the damn show.

So, Spike VGA's. Garbage, or no? I thought it was an improvement over last years, but it still has a ways to go.

I don't get Spike TV, but I just found out Neil Patrick Harris hosted them.

Even though you say they're garbage, I still feel like I missed out.

I mean, seriously. Neil Patrick Harris.

They spent so much time with the celebrities they didn't even announce all the awards. I mean sure I found all the results online but still you'd think they'd announce ALL the awards on something called the VIDEO GAME AWARDS not Celebrity Talk Time.

It was a meh experience, most award ceremonies are and its the same with this one. I did enjoy a lot of the trailers though.

I'm more pissed that apparently some new info for Gears 3 was going to be shown at the awards but got canceled. Didn't see much of the show but it mostly meh. Only thing that made me smile was Black Ops winning best character and the Halo Reach's music playing near the end.

god i cant stand olivia munn..nothing against her personally, but she has a habit of always hosting and talking about everything she has no business hosting or talking about.

it always feels like the outsiders idea of what a video game award ceremony should be; like if i tried to decide this year's NFL MVP.

i havent the slightest fucking idea who should win that, i dont know jack about football, i dont watch it, and i dont care about it.... and thats the feeling spike VGAs give me; like they dont know or care what theyre doing, but know kids like CoD so think they should talk about that.

I thought that it sucked, but with the announcement of Mass Effect 3, I find it redeemable.

Might you be referring to the butchery of the Star Wars "Craptacular" from 2009 Comic Con?

Remember back in the day, when gamers everywhere wanted their cherished hobby to be accepted, to be "mainstream?" Well, this is what mainstream looks like.

Be careful what you wish for.

Spike itself caters to the lowest common denominator in just about everything it does. Video games are more a part of pop-culture than they are an art-form, so Spike is merely capitalizing off the popularity of video games. Yes it sucked, but unless Spike is playing a good movie once in awhile, everything on Spike sucks. Because what is popular is stupid.

I said it so it's true. :p

This is what the "mainstream" looks like when it comes to a topic they're trying to be hip to but really know nothing about.

It's always a clustered mess.

It was a pandering waste of time, designed to sell processed cheese to the blind masses.
seriously did anyone else notice that most of the "winners" belonged to games that ether came out in the last few months or recently came out with new DLC.

All the "reveals" already known/or at least rumored about on the internet.

Never Again!!!

To me, the VGAs aren't really a legit award show so much as they are kind of a micro-E3. I pay attention to them every year, but only because I want to hear new games being announced and other things of that nature. The awards themselves, such as they are, are kind of a joke to me, and everyone else I know.

I don't really like the Spike VGAs...

Always seemed that everyone in attendance doesn't even play or know anything about video games...

THe whole production was shamefully low production value. I mean, maybe they needed to have a bigger audience or something. I think what hurt was that there was no external response to anything like you'd hear at E3. They'd show a video, or crack a joke and you could literally hear someone fart in the silence.

That and am I the only person already tired of Neil Patrick Harris? I think his 15 more minutes of fame should have been over LOOONG ago. It's time he either joined a reality show on VH1 or was jettisoned into the sun.
Either way, either hire Tim Schafer to host or Adam Sessler or someone people actually connect to, ESPECIALLY gamers. At least let Nathan Fillian host if you won't let him star in the Drake's Fortune movie.

Also, I wouldn't call ANYTHING I saw tonight a "trailer"... I call them TEASERS.. since most of them were narrative driven allusions to the game with a huge splash screen telling us basically what we already have.

the whole thing is a waste of time with or without NPH. I don't need some fucking show paid for by the industry to tell me which games I will enjoy. I know better than they do.

Who cares?

It's just an event for them to showcase/announce new games.

Not like there were any surprises there.

Goddammit, Bioware.
