In an age where videogames may be censored for basically being violence simulators or a new medium of softcore porn, a company would really remake Splatterhouse with this much added gore?
I realize some games have really capitalized on the intense violence (God of War, Gears of War, etc.), but we need to really think about what kind of image this game is giving the non-gaming population.
Games are already being blamed for causing kids to act violently as much as unprotected boinking of a prostitute is blamed for causing rashes and the sex-sniffles.
Let's try and push the envelope a little bit here and go for more innovative/less mindlessly violent games; games like (but not remakes of) Portal or Mirror's Edge.
Let's push for better storytelling, with more plot than "...and then he tore the zombie's spinal cord out and proceeded to beat it back to death." Creative storytelling like Assassin's Creed, Brutal Legend, Mass Effect, and Fable should be at the forefront of our imagination. Not stuff like Jeffrey Dahmer's Day in the Market.
Seriously guys, this is getting embarassing, let's make a change PLEASE!
