Splinter Cell Conviction keeps crashing.

I've just purchased Splinter Cell Conviction on Steam and I can't for the life of me get it to start up. Every time I launch it, I get an error stating "Failed to load configuration. Please restart the game. If the error persists please contact Ubisoft support". I'm almost certain that the people of the escapist would be able to help me a lot better than the Ubisoft support team. So, any ideas?

Ubisoft recently broke all their PC games.

They released an update for that Uplay launcher thing that all their games have to use now. It promptly rolled over and shat itself inside out, preventing anyone from playing their games.

As far as I know, they haven't fixed it yet.

You need to manually change the resolution in one of ini files. I forgot which one. Google it.

Well...i'm not sure how many patches the game has gotten since release, but this title made me laugh.

It did this to me and my friends constantly when we tried to play... No one knew why, not even ubisoft.
