I'm a social guy. I really like hanging out with my friends to pass the time. I'm also a gamer, which should come as no surprise to you considering you're reading a forum on the Escapist, so I naturally enjoy playing games with my friends. The main problem here is that I have no good split-screen games. What are some good (and preferably cheap) split-screen games for 360 and PS2 that you would recommend I pick up?

Gears of War has a really fun co-op split screen mode. I don't know what price it's going for these days, though.

Borderlands is really good for multiplayer. Red Faction Guerilla is also really good for that even though it's not really split screen, more "wait your turn while your friends blow shit up to see who can destroy the most stuff in a minute".
Last one: Halo: Reach. Bear with me on this, Reach has forge mode, infinite numbers of different game modes and is very arcadey in certain game modes. Try it out

I think they're practically giving it away now. In fact I might pick up another copy. You never forget the first time you hit your best friend with an orbital laser...

OT: Timesplitters 2 is my friends and I preferred choice of multiplayer. It too probably costs close to nothing if you look on the internet.

I really liek split-screen since i can play with my brother, and since i don't have xbox live i can enjoy a good match with a few people without xbox live. However alot of games these days either exclude it to pressure people into xbox live to join exclusive multiplayer stuff and some games do a terrible job at splitscreen. I mean the splitscreen in Lost Planet 2 sucks, only 1/4 of the screen is used for splitscreen even, for two players. You need Hyper vision just to be able to see your damn charecter! Capcom really dropped the ball on that one. All in all, I love it when games have splitscreen.

Modern Warfare 2's co-op mode was easily the best thing about that game. It's a blast to play with a friend.
