At first, I thought that a patch for Spore would be great, ironing out any issues in this rather splendid game. Whilst it's removed many bugs and fixed others, it seems (in my case) to have cause done rather irritating one: lag.

My game is lagging like hell when I play it, no matter what stage I play in. The only ones which suffer no lag are the creature/vehicle/building creators. Anyone else got this issue, and does anyone know how to resolve it?

I've tried turning everything down in the settings, running it in a window, disabling all background stuff in Windows, closing the EADM, and even disconnecting from the net and playing offline, but nothing seems to work.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

Go to EA technical forums maybe? I'm sure they can assist you there.

That's nothing; Richard actually thinks EA can help him. He wins, I think.
I noticed that, but I just took cover in a shell of sweet denial and pretended it was sarcasm.

Yes, I'm still playing it. And I buy an EA game every time it's the apocalypse. Spore is just different to all the standard EA stuff in the idea that it's not just another re-release of a game with a different number shoved on the end (I'm looking at FIFA, Madden and NBA games here).

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced lag since patching, is all.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh wait, you're serious?

Best advice I can give is avoid the EA official forums or tech support. Everything will lead back to "have you updated your drivers/does your computer meet the minimum spec?"
It's inexorable, like the tides of the sea.

Try looking on third party sites like gamespot or use the almighty fountain of knowledge (Google).

Wow because Mr.Ben Croshaw invented that expression right?

*clears throat*

HEAR THAT FELLOW ESCAPISTS? STOP USING WORDS LIKE "TWAT" OR "****" OTHERWISE YOU'RE LABELED AS A YAHTZEE CLONE!

You don't have the right to go around calling people names just because you're ignorant.

....oh wait. (Scratch that, Yahtzee used it in one of his videos it's copyrighted now.)
No, Mr. Ben Croshaw did not invent the phrase, by any means, however he used it to comic effect in one of his videos. It has been since used prolificallly on this website. Perhaps the phrase I should have used is "Suspected Yahtzee Clone".

And at what point did I even mention "WORDS LIKE "TWAT" OR "****""?

The Spore forums usually have good advice, by which I mean, they will tell you to try other things and treat re-installing it as a last resort (probably because it takes 2 hours), however re-installing seems like the best option right now since you've already tried turning down the graphical power and background stuff, and don't download the patches again. So far both have only messed things up more. The next patch is probably at least a month away and will most likely cause more problems if their current track record is any indication. I know I'm not going to download the next one until I see the complaint list a week later and judge whether they would be better or worse than the glitches I have to put up with now.

actually most ppl DON'T have the latest drivers and there's also a lot of ppl who think that min specs are just a suggestion, so it's actually good advice

a lot of tech support forums will ask for you to do a dxdiag dump cause then it shows what stuff you have and the drivers you're using

Well, even the mighty Google has let me down, after many years of faithful information-providing. It just sends me to sites where I can d/l the patch.....

After a couple of weeks, you'd think SOMEONE would experience the same issues I'm having. I can't be the only one, surely?
