That pun was only to get your attention.
I recently felt like playing Spore again, having not done so for a while. I don't own it on Steam or anything--I'm old-fashioned, and I actually have the game on a CD. So I popped the disk back in and began the re-installation process, eager to get started. After killing a bit of time in Animal Crossing: Wild World (don't judge me), the installation asked if I wanted EA Download Manager. I needed EADM to get the patches and updates they'd released for Spore including asymmetricality (woot), so I said yes. That installed for a while, and once it was done, it suddenly began setting up an Origin account for me. I hadn't been following gaming news lately, so I had no idea what it was. But I set up the account anyway.
Now Origin is taking up some space on my hard drive. Unfortunately, when I tried to launch Spore after installing it, I was greeted with the phrase "Spore has stopped working." The game crashed when I tried to run it. So I reinstalled it and got the same result. I reinstalled it again, and now the game won't even boot. I tried activating the product code that allows the game to install on Origin, but it didn't accept it.
The obvious question is now: Did Origin do this, and how can I get Spore running again?
