Star control 2: the Ur-quan masters

I know this game is obscure, so I'm sure very few of you have even played it (ooo look at me I'm a gaming hipster), but to anyone who has played Star control 2, do you know how to warp to hyper space during ship combat? Thanks in advance, this is pretty crucial information for not dying in this game.

Also, I recommend anyone who likes a good space sim with a lot of choice and exploration to check this game out. Its free to download, just google Ur-quan masters download.

ESC or space from memory. Is it the UQM remake from the abandonware 3DO code? Or the original PC port from GOG or (fuck you're hardcore if this is the case) the original release?

Edit: I got killed more times trying to emergency warp than it ever saved me.

Google tells me to press the Esc key by default to activate emergency warp.

you can only emergeny warp if you have at least 10 fuel ...as far as i can remember
