Hey guys i've been meaning to get around to posting about one of my favorite ipad games, here goes!

Star Trek Rivals is a simple card game, played on a 3x3 grid it mirrors the style of the tetra master mini games from the final fantasy series. It is less cryptic than that series in that there are only 4 attack directions and card power levels are clearly marked. It is played by asynchronous multiplayer, so you can play as many games at once as you have cards. It's also a great game for quick breaks at the workplace. Te games interface is simple and good looking, playing the game is very easy and you are shown a preview of the effect of your move before you commit.

There are about 70 different cards with 4 levels of rarity, each card also has an "elite" version with slightly better numbers. Elite cards can be earned randomly or by upgrading a stack of the regular version of the card.

The game is free to play and it is easy to play and win without spending any real money. The game uses two in games currencies; credits and latinum. Credits can be used to purchase new card packs with common rarity, though rares do show up on occasion. Credits are also used to upgrade multiple copies of cards into thier elite versions, the number of cards needed to upgrade to elite is inversely proportional to thier rarity (it takes many commons for an upgrade and only a few rares). Credits are earned with every match. Latinum can be used to buy high rarity card packs or indivdual cards, wich can be gotten for a better price during daily sales. You start with some latinum and get a small quantity when you level up. Xp for level ups is earned in every match.

You can earn a free card with daily logons and the chance for that card to be rare increases if you wait another day to claim it, I recently recieved a red matter, the highest valued card in the game, by waiting for a daily draw. By default a match ends if your rival doesn't make a move after 36 hours, there is also an option to make a match "warp speed" with a one hour cut off for inactivity.

The last big feature is friends, when dueling a friend you gain more xp and credits for every match you play. If you input a freind code when you first start the game you get bonus xp that is shared with the friend. My mentioning this is not entirely altruistic, in addition to xp, recruiting new players gets you point towards a promotion to get a rare card pack worth several dollars in latinum.

My friend code is WOXAZG, get the game, add me please, and test your skills. The game is easy to learn but there is more tactical depth than meets the eye. Taking a card that took another card creates a combo, alowing you to sweep the field at the end of a round, if you play your cards right and keep your rival from doing the same.

I hope you found this imformative and I look forward to having new rivals to battle, Qapla'!
