Being a trekkie I know what a good Star Trek movie is. This new outing from J J Abrams is not only an amazing Star Trek film but I would go so far as to say 1 of the best if not THE best Trek movie.

If anyone has seen it yet and would like to discuss or disagree, feel free.

I am intrigued that people actually say the movie is good. I wouldn't have expected it. Haven't seen it yet but will do as soon as possible.

I'm just excited that Zachary Quinto is in it. Effects look rather cool, though an epic plot-line can make all the difference. Lets hope that this film has both.

Although I doubt it can top First Contact...

I'm a recent fan of Star Trek, I'm friends with hardcore lifelong trekkies, and my sister hates all sci-fi everywhere.

My friends, myself and my sister all loved the film. I love that it's got multiple layers of appeal, that it's fun, and homage-y without being a rip off, and that it's genuinely good.

I thought it was atrocious actually, a fairly shallow attempt at cashing in on an older franchise.
I was rather disappointed.

I might have to go see it. My only experience with Star Trek is TNG really. I have also seen episodes from other series on Virgin 1 recently. For me its just not Star Trek without Patrick Stewart. He's just such a brilliant actor.
