Luke dying would mean none of the original trio would survive the new era. I don't think anyone on the planet has big enough balls (or a small enough brain) to do that.undeadsuitor said:Jedi was always plural? I mean technically.
At worst, Luke is going to die because god knows we dont need the wonderful mark hamill classing up the place
Plus, after Carrie Fisher, losing Luke at this stage with an entire movie still to come would be too bitter for many long time fans, I think. May just be wishful thinking, but I don't think any writer would be THAT cruel to fans of such a beloved series. At the very least he'd HAVE to be a force ghost for a significant chunk of the next movie.Ezekiel said:Luke isn't going to die.undeadsuitor said:Jedi was always plural? I mean technically.

1. The English title would already have spoiled it.
2. We just had an old character die.
3. Maz told Ray that her family is never coming back for her and the belonging she seeks is ahead of her, with Luke. Episode VIII will show the two of them bonding. They can't kill him off yet. It's too soon. It would likely piss me off, actually.
It could just be lost in translation. The French tend to do screw ups like this on the regular when translating American works, which is why they should leave it to us to do the translations because we understand American nuances.cathou said:Les derniers. plural. like in many last jedi, and not just one. does it change anything for you ?
Eh, he's old. I kinda like that he looks similar to Alec Guinness as Obi-wan, body-type wise.Ezekiel said:It's been officially translated to multiple languages and is plural in all.Zontar said:It could just be lost in translation. Him as a Force ghost would be kind of cliche, but yeah. They can't kill him off. I'm hoping he survives Episode IX as well. Episode IX is already tasked with killing off Leia.Kolby Jack said:Plus, after Carrie Fisher, losing Luke at this stage with an entire movie still to come would be too bitter for many long time fans, I think. As for the plural title, it definitely adds a new wrinkle for me. I was confused about the "Last Jedi" title originally because it was really vague and could be interpreted in many ways (is it Luke? Is it Rey after Luke dies? Is it Kylo Ren redeemed? Is it Ezra Bridger?) What was once a potentially murky and misleading title now makes it look like the movie will be about the struggle to revive the Jedi Order against Snoke who wants to snuff it out. That clarity is nice to have.
I just wish he were thinner. He still doesn't look like Luke.

Was he? Hard to tell through the robes I guess. *shrug*Ezekiel said:Alec Guinness was lean in his old age.Kolby Jack said:Eh, he's old. I kinda like that he looks similar to Alec Guinness as Obi-wan, body-type wise.
since the french title come from the official disney star wars france twitter account, i highly doubt that there can be a translation error. Disney revealed the same day all the titles in language that could resolve the plural of jedi. the fact that they waited so long between that and the first time they revealed the title in english seems to me that the deliberatly wanted to leave people in doubt about the title for a while.Zontar said:It could just be lost in translation.
