Yup, because the return of a series that was cancelled years ago due to the fact it was from a competing network just happens,
-I'd need a source on the Cartoon Network thing, because I've seen all kinds of claims regarding why Clone Wars was cancelled.
-Clone Wars ended in 2014. That's four years worth of people clamouring for its return. Your rationale that "Last Jedi sucked, ergo, Clone Wars was brought back" is sketchy considering that:
a) People were already clamouring for it to be brought back
b) There's a narrative-based impetus for more Clone Wars content considering that the 12 episodes that are being produced are set to cover storylines that were meant to be produced, but were later covered in tie-in novels.
c) There's even more of an impetus to create Star Wars-exclusive content for Disney's streaming platform, so crapping out 12 episodes is a quick, easy way to generate hype. That's not even talking about Rebels, which just concluded its run, so there's a void in this style of Star Wars material (in terms of animation and age range)
d) If mixed reception to the Last Jedi was the be-all and end-all to Clone Wars being produced, that would have to be an extremely quick production schedule to get a trailer out with in-episode footage this fast.
Thing is, it's extremely easy to claim cause and effect for pretty much anything. I bet if there was an announcement that if Forces of Destiny was cancelled, you'd be making the exact same claim. So either:
a) Star Wars Clone Wars is being produced, because Last Jedi sucked.
b) Star Wars Forces of Destiny is cancelled, because Last Jedi sucked.
The events may differ, but apparently the conclusion is the same.
Nope, they just did it because it was popular once upon a time,
That makes far more sense actually, in that, again:
-Clone Wars was popular (general fact)
-Clone Wars was cancelled in 2014, with intended plotlines never produced (fact)
-People were clamouring for Clone Wars to return (fact)
-Disney is creating its own streaming service (fact), and it's likely that they'd want exclusive content for it (assumption)
Ergo, there's every reason for Disney to produce more Clone Wars material regardless of the performance of live action films.
it's not like Disney has its own Star Wars show that it was trying to make a hit... oh wait...
Um, which one? Forces of Destiny? You mean that show with three minute episodes that was released on YouTube for free that's about as far removed from Clone Wars as you can get? I'm not sure if that's even comparable, and I've never seen any indication that it was marketed as "the next big thing." You don't release episodes of "the next big thing" for free on YouTube.
If you're talking about Star Wars: Resistance, then that hasn't even been released yet and we barely know anything about it, so I'm not sure what kind of claims can be made about its success/lack of it.
